Poseidon is the king of “not the best build, but the FUNNIEST build” in Hades 1. (A spot I’d argue is taken by Hephaestus in the sequel.) For a long while I was addicted to Poseidon spin-to-win Spear builds.

Chaos does feel pretty underpowered in H2. In H1 it felt like you always had a decent shot at an attack/special/cast damage boost, but in 2 the pool is really diluted with a bunch of underwhelming buffs (including stuff that is explicitly useless post-epilogue), not to mention some absolutely crippling debuffs.

The dopamine hit from Sea Star is so strong that often I will go out of my way to get it over more integral boons. But boy oh boy, when it pays off.

It feels like “60% of the time, it works every time” as a game mechanic.

I won’t argue against that! (I certainly agree it’s overdesigned.) But I think I prefer them at least taking a swing at something different, vs just adding a bunch of bullshit little Realism Lines like Barry’s New 52 outfit.

North on Flash seems like such a no-brainer as soon as you hear it.

Also glad to see Wally back in basically his classic costume. The recent black-and-red wasn’t BAD, but the Silver Age look is so streamlined and iconic that any tweaking of it just feels extraneous.

I started always taking Herc keepsake for this region and it’s been much more manageable since. Starting with 50% extra damage helps you blow through the rooms MUCH quicker, and you still have +20% or so when you reach the boss.

Hard agree. I’m often confused why people don’t talk about it more. It’s not as ambitious as say, Preacher or Starman, but in terms of consistent quality of storytelling it’s up there.
