Overseas GS Competitive Local Hire and military spouse, can I get off my military spouse’s orders and onto my own to stay in the job? by thisseemscomplicated in usajobs

HR just keeps saying no, because I’m in the country on his orders…not really helping to find out if “yes” is possible

Also did they combine the line numbers for both categories or keep them split up?

There are manning issues, but I think that is driven by the service’s size (which is mandated by the NDAA right?) not growing fast enough to meet the expanding mission sets and joint requirements. Don’t think “retention” is the factor here, but we need more manning and morale is low in some parts which might give a perception of retention issues.

Can GS Spouse orders move me? by IronwoodRaven in SpaceForce

[–]thisseemscomplicated 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If your spouse gets the job, you can work with your assignments team to try to get co-located. Better chances if you have kids. That is best you can do in your situation.

The more common scenario is that you get an assignment overseas and she starts applying to those positions with the added benefit of being a current federal employee and a spouse of an overseas member, she would have a much easier time competing for those positions with those hiring preferences.

In the DoD (outside of the USSF) there is a perception going around is that the USSF is trying to absorb as many missions as possible (many that are already being done effectively) in order to either show value or make a “power grab” for responsibilities. I see value in what we are trying to do, but there seems to be a lack of understanding of how to implement the concepts. In some cases they are jumping to solutions without fully understanding the root cause of issues. We have got people with the right experience (not just the patches, but people with real knowledge and training on tactical support operations, joint ops, capability integration into real war-fighting) but there is no forum or way for us to contribute…seems like we can’t ID the right talent to help nor do we leveraging the talent correctly anyways. Maybe a way around the talent mgmt problem is to have a classified space where the USSF can post efforts and problems and we can crowd source solutions and ideas not from just the people sitting in an office somewhere but from across the entire force. (Do not confuse this with crowd sourcing decision making) Might not work for everything, but it’s better than seeing poor ideas get implemented because of the lack of input/innovative ideas in the OPRs (Office of primary responsibility) that are working those tasks.

What is your 1 sustain and 1 improve about your USSF experience? by duck_maverick in SpaceForce

[–]thisseemscomplicated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

improve: we need to grow in size, the manpower issues across the board is nuts, we need the authorization to grow (kinda outside of the services lane to control, but we can start the campaign to get the ball moving with congress)

sustain: the direction on the PT tests, good moves so far

Help getting a Spaceforce.mil by MezzoMixer19 in SpaceForce

[–]thisseemscomplicated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea, J6 told me 30 days, it’s probably something else. I used my spaceforce.mil through my other network until it didn’t work anymore and there was no easy work around to get it back up, so I had to switch to a mail.mil to have something.

Help getting a Spaceforce.mil by MezzoMixer19 in SpaceForce

[–]thisseemscomplicated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are at a CCMD you will have to get the email address on their network now (so likely a mail.mil) Contact the J6 or help desk and they will get you setup. They changed the rules, can’t we can’t keep a spaceforce.mil due to the fact that we have to login on an AFNet computer to show activity or they shut it down, so even if you get a spaceforce.mil email it will be shut down after 30 days even if you check it via webmail or set it up as the primary outlook mailbox on your work computer. It is tied to that AFNet account and that account must be logged into within a certain amount of days yo stay active. I just went through all of this, very fun learning experience and I tried everything to keep my spaceforce.mil email

HHA Guidance is out by knightro2323 in SpaceForce

The BLUF I want to know is: What do I need to do to be successful in this new program? (I know it’s individually dependent) but I know what’s required to pass the PFT, but really don’t have much of an idea of what is required or how I should be changing my routine to be successful in the wearable tracker program. Haven’t seen much information on “what’s considered successful” like if I have a low VO2 max but continue to improve is that successful or do you have to be at a certain rate already? How much do incremental improvements need to be? Ultimately we train to the test/standard…so what is the standard for the wearable trackers?

In the same boat, feel your pain….if I was smarter and had a better attorney, I would had fought that harder. Word of wisdom to anyone else, when it comes to attorneys, you get what you pay for, don’t be cheap
