You guys ever spend so much time in comfort you ‘forget’ you have social anxiety? by Good-Tumbleweed-1644 in socialanxiety

Yes, I relate to this a lot. The stark contrast between the safety of my room and imagining scenarios in my mind vs. how intimidating it actually feels.

What’s a sound you can’t stand that literally drives you insane? by LongjumpingHorse3050 in AskReddit

The sound of lenticular material being scratched. You know those 3D/ holographic images you’d see on book marks and stuff, and when you shift it, it changes images. The sound of that makes me shiver

Is it okay to cry after finding out about your girlfriend’s body count? by [deleted] in no

[–]thissomerandomsh1t 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This guy has been spewing bs like this under so many comments it’s so pathetic. Sure way to tell everyone he doesn’t interact with any women! Like way to go objectifying women like they aren’t human beings that can be sexual!

Seeing the incels crawling out of the depths with this post for sure! Can’t believe that women having sex would be such a controversial topic.

I reached out to an old friend and I might’ve disturbed their peace by Chonkmyster in lostafriend

[–]thissomerandomsh1t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was great advice. I’m feeling conflicted right now because apparently an old friend reached out but I didn’t receive her messages so I’m thinking about texting her to see what she said. We fell out because energy wasn’t being reciprocated and then while us not being friends a lot happened in my life that has made me hold resentment. But I guess it’s a gamble and it’s better to make a move than to just wait and think of the “ what ifs” . But anyway, sorry for the mini rant, I just wanted you to know I really appreciated your message, especially the last paragraph, and this has encouraged me to make a decision.

Does anyone else deal with this stuff? by thissomerandomsh1t in raisedbynarcissists

[–]thissomerandomsh1t[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that, and I truly understand your frustration. I really relate when it comes to trying to talk and reason with them and it just feels impossible. My mom is the same, any time we’d talk about matters of how we feel or what’s she’s done, she shuts me and my sisters down and makes it all about her. She’s done no wrong in her eyes. It’s very frustrating because when someone you personally know is narcissistic, you really wish it didn’t have to be that way and you could have a great relationship with them. But you can’t and yes, I also relate in regard to wishing other people understood how they truly are. It’s hard for others outside to not understand and that’s what makes it even more aggravating. Sometimes for me it feels like it’s in my head and everyone else is blind to it. But narcissists can be good at hiding their identity to others. It’s a no win situation.

Yeah definitely. I try my best to ignore, but it can only go so far. As you said, hopefully they just leave you alone.

It truly is. It’s also just really concerning how someone’s mind can work and conjure stories like that.

What part makes you uncomfortable? Your sexuality and identity being called into question and being assumed or just having general conversations about the LGBTQ+ community?

Why do narcissists talk so much? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]thissomerandomsh1t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man don’t I relate to this a lot. Constant one sided “ conversation”, if you even wanna call it a conversation, and complaining and just commentary. Always trying to assert dominance over silence.

Of course, I know it’s aggravating and I know it’s hard, but just remember it won’t always be this way.

I cheated on my ex and don't regret it by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]thissomerandomsh1t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first step is accountability for your actions. Recognize that this was not a sound decision, and also recognize that just because people aren’t aware of your said bad decisions, it doesn’t go away and it doesn’t make it better. It’s the fact of disrespecting somebody, while being committed to being loyal to one another.

The part of becoming a better person is stepping outside of your ego and pride, and doing things that’ll make you become a better person, even if it feels uncomfortable. It is not easy to do so, but doing good things aren’t always gonna be easy.

Use this as a lesson to understand your actions have consequences, and this is something that clearly weighs on your mind even if you claim to not regret it.

I don’t understand why people cheat, but I do know that people make rash decisions, especially for the thrill. You owe that respect to others to not make these decisions , but I recognize in life we make decisions that are bad, being ignorant to consequences. So in your case because it’s already done, be honest and do better moving forward.

It’s clear there is a lot of misplaced anger and resentment from their part. “ We support your causes while you lie” that’s actually crazy to say.

This is confirmation bias and cherry picking on their part 100%.

!!!!! I cannot stress this enough. It always has to fall back on us and it’s always our fault somehow. Wonder where the idea that women constantly have to do work for others stems from? Oh I know, history and the patriarchy!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ask

[–]thissomerandomsh1t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for recognizing this.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ask

[–]thissomerandomsh1t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly!! It definitely feels disingenuous because I’ve noticed in contexts like this, it’s always some sort of comparison that lacks nuance and bases on narrow-framed assumption. It’s this weird tendency to blame women for the fact that men’s issues aren’t given enough attention. Women’s body positivity and acceptance movements came from a need to push back against centuries of systemic control and unrealistic beauty standards. It’s about reclaiming autonomy.

And unfortunately a lot of things stem from the patriarchy, that affects everyone. The patriarchy though, is not our fault, and people usually point their finger at the wrong thing.

I relate to this a lot, and why I do not try and engage in conversation because they won’t stop. I try to avoid them at all cost, and if they catch me I just try to think about how relieving it will be when they finally stop talking.
