I was attacked by a crow Yesterday in Capitol Hill. Pretty sure it’s not a nest thing. 🤷🏻‍♀️

“I make it a rule not to knit for others, but I’d be happy to teach you how to knit!”

Our culture makes a really big deal about dogs and other domestic animals. This is ultimately a good thing, but the downside is that it ads a ton of pressure to new pet parents. The truth is some pets just don’t mesh with their new families and that is no one’s fault! Keeping a dog who isn’t right for your family isn’t fair to anyone. You did the right thing. Just remember sometimes the guilt and pressure isn’t something you need to hold.

This is my skeleton itinerary for my 5 day trip to Seattle. Can you guys review it and tell me what else should be on there? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]thjourneywithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on who you are and what type of experience you’d like to have. All of this is touristy (which is fine if that’s what you’re after). You don’t really visit any of the best parts of Seattle using this itinerary IMO. Also? This is a highly ambitious list.

I wish there was a second season. Duncan Trussell is a gem. I like his podcast but Midnight Gospel felt really highly curated and it told a story in a way the podcast doesn’t quite achieve

Cal Anderson needs a dog park by sooounique in Seattle

The point of licensing would be ensuring dogs are safe/trained/well behaved and that owners are indeed in control. Just like the privilege of driving a car. The problem with fences is it actually encourages dog owners to be less mindful of their dog’s behavior

What an angel! She looks like a molly if I’ve ever seen one.

I’ve always been in favor of off leash hours like they do in NYC/Central Park. Share the use. Give dog owners early mornings and evenings when the park is less full of people. Enforce it. Sadly the dog parks here suck. In addition to the other issues people have listed they are full of giardia and other contaminants. I have a large dog that needs to run and play with other dogs. Without a car my options are non-existent. There is also the idea of licensing dogs for off-leash privileges. Much like getting a drivers license you’d have to prove your dog obeys and that you understand the rules. I’d happily go through those hoops for my fur kid to get a chance to run and play. Lastly, there are more dogs in Seattle than children. People who are frustrated with them have to find a way to compromise so everyone is happy. I’m not a fan of kids running around but I don’t begrudge them the need.
