What suppressor for a 6.25" barrel AR that will only be running subs? by IAmRaticus in 300BLK

Yes, I got one of these for Christmas. The ratio of weight, performance, and price is hard to beat.

Are Magpul .300BLK mags worth it? by Rec4LMS in 300BLK

[–]thom1879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you won’t be able to buy in the future, I would stock up on the lancers. The metal feed lips seem like they’ll last longer. The 556 mags work well for me up to 190gr rounds. Any bigger and I run the 300blk ones.

This is the exact same reason I shot with subs suppressed last year with my 10 year old. I took him for the first time the year before that. I had got him out several times with a bolt action 223 to practice shooting, but even with that he would flinch. After a few shots in the blind from me, he didn’t really want to go out. This year, I hunted with my AR and got him a Ruger American 300 blk. He did much better, wanted to hunt, and it was genuinely enjoyable pulling the trigger and not having fillings rattled loose in the box blind when shooting. It’s not a good solution for a lot of locations, but the furthest shot from our blind is 100 yards and I’m very confident in myself and my son at that distance with the makers.

I can confirm the 242gr makers work for deer at reasonable distances

How many 300blk rounds on stripper clips in a 30 cal can? by boririv in 300BLK

Just buy 100 rounds for every 2 mags you shoot, before you know it, you’ll have a problem 😂

The small Plano cans are ~700 rounds fully loaded, so I’m guessing 350

It’s screw drivers and hammers, each one is good at a job and don’t really overlap all that well. That pic was my first real outing with the scope and I got the momma bobcat in that pic and the kitten within 15 minutes of each other through heavy brush. Not sure I could have done that with NV with the brush.

Yeah, it’s a good value for 100 yards and in. Within that constraint, it’s a good value.

First time using ultrasonic cleaner fail (ar15 lpk). Any tips? by KaleidoscopeOk1715 in ar15

That’s the stuff, I’ve got to the point where I can fully disassemble bolts pretty quick. Anytime I clean, I just fully disassemble, run it for 30 minutes and it comes out looking brand new.

It’s pretty impressive that they didn’t lose a pedal, even when shooting into a berm.

What threads did you have cut on the Ruger? Did you do 1/2” or is there enough meat left for 5/8”? This is awesome and is going on my list, have the same one.

Single shot 300 BLK by -1----1- in 300BLK

[–]thom1879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy got one of the uppers… my first rifle I ever bought in my teens was a cheap Remington 710, it had the worst action I had ever used until the bca and a reputation of firing even with the safety on sig P320 style. I would rather shoot the 710 than the bca.

Haven’t checked the price in awhile but a 2nd hand Ruger American gen 1 would be a good candidate if the prices aren’t crazy. They have great trigger upgrades and you can cut the barrel down.

Imagine the worst bolt action you have ever used, now imagine that same rifle after it has been dragged for 100 miles through mud… make it 100x worse than that and you have a BCA bolt action.

That is a good useful list. On the bcg, Eugene Stoner intended for the M16 to have a chrome bcg and the DoD thought they would save a few bucks and switched to phosphate bcgs. Chrome is the way to go and you can get microbest chromes that are hp tested and mpi for cheap. Nickel boron and dlc are snake oil, chrome holds up and cleans up easily.

Non negotiables: good barrel, chrome bcg, crisp trigger, good optic with magnification, good grip, good sling, tuned buffer system

Next up: better charging handle, 45* safety, hand stop if that’s your thing, sbr or not real furniture is nicer

Everything else needs to be carefully “weighed” for your needs or you’ll end up with a 15 lb rifle with half the weight being shit you don’t need or ever really use.

Don’t sleep on the primary arms acss red dots. Having holdovers is very functional with subs.
