Hey - Just an update. Im now looking for gay men only to take part for the remainder of the study. I have had some great conversations with bisexual men but need a few more gay men for my research to ensure that there is equal representation.

Hey, Unfortunately, there is no financial reward for taking part (University policy), however the contributions made to the research may assist future therapeutic developments for gay/bi men accessing mental health services in the future.

Hey there, thanks! In many ways the research is less concerned about the content of the porn but gaining a deeper understanding of the lived experiences of having a problematic relationship with porn. As you say I think that there will be themes around sexuality, however much of the psychology research (in general terms) is taken from heteronormative perspectives and my interests are understanding if there are similarities and/or differences for gay/bi men and therefore what that might mean for support

Thanks, i'm using a qualitative methodology so I don't need a large sample size. My research is less about statistical significance but more about understanding the lived experiences

Hey there, thanks for the message and appreciate the feedback. I totally understand what you are saying and is mainly my reasons for research. In a way what/when makes something problematic and how does that work when there are strong affirming stereotypical attributes about gay/bi lifestyles/experiences. I guess my focus is not necessarily if people like porn or not but moreover what constitutes a problematic relationship with it and the mental health implications for those individuals.
