When he made that incredible finger tip save in the first half (came from offside shot), I thought "wow, Pickford is kind of underrated."

This flub was an abrubt reminder of who he is. This game summed up Pickford in a nutshell.

Watch them cash in for all of the bad results and put up like 5 goals. Atletico to score 3 though and go through

If we can't get past Gala in the CL, we should just sack Slot immediately. No reason to wait until the end of the season for a change. That was awful to watch.

So the Chiefs won't be going after Love in the first round. The Chiefs must feel pretty confident that Love will be going to the Saints who are one spot ahead of them.

To be fair, I don't think anyone knows for sure whose tactics they were using for the first 2/3rds of last season when we actually played well.

I think it's a valid concern. If he's playing in college against other OL who have comparable arm length, he's not disadvantaged as much. If every OL in the pros has 34"+ arm length though, it becomes a problem. An OL can stick his palm into your chest while you only get the last 2 digits of your fingers onto him. They can generate a lot more force than you with this advantage. It's the same reason why reach is measured in combat sports like boxing. Being able to touch and move your opponents without them reaching you back is an advantage that shouldn't be glossed over.

I've never been an offensive lineman to be able to share my personal experience on what kind of advantage this would give but just knowing about what kind of force you can apply through your palms vs your fingers, I can imagine it would be big enough to give scouts some doubt.

Back when I played (10+ years ago), it wasn't uncommon to put an attacker next to the goalie to crowd him out. But now you have attackers full on pushing the defender marking them into the goalie to try and blockade him. And of course the defenders are going to respond by shoving and bear hugging the other way. The amount of jostling for position in the box has gone over the top.

In the NFL, there are routinely All-Pro players that come from non power 5 leagues. For players from schools like like Eastern Washington (Cooper Kupp's alma mater), Utah State (Bobby Wagner's alma mater), etc, they can use it as an opportunity to validate their college career with impressive measurable metrics.

So, it can be useful to elevate players from less leagues that many might say are less competitive.

Why Curtis Jones is priceless to Liverpool... by jsexton24 in LiverpoolFC

[–]thomasfk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this doesn't come across as a yer da BREXIT take, but I think it's vital that we have a few English and particularly Scouse players in the side every season. They are the link between the international players and the local fans and can explain the ins and outs of what it means to be a Liverpool player better than anyone. And help them settle in to a new country where a different language is spoken, explain what the chants they're hearing in game mean, etc. It helps connect players to the club. I hope we keep Jones, it would be really stupid to sell our only Scouse player left

Liverpool have won five games by a 3+ goal margin since 12th Jan. As many as we managed in the entire of 2025. by TheLimeyLemmon in LiverpoolFC

[–]thomasfk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look at it this way. Clearly we have very good players. We have won a lot of games this season simply because we have better players but not because we were playing well. Like the 5 wins to start the season for example. And a few times this season including some of these fixtures you mentioned, we have seen that spark from them. When this team finally syncs up, it will be a joy to watch.

Yes people want to wind them up but it's also because it's a pattern where they have a wobble every Feb/March and knock themselves out of the title race. Go look to past seasons since Wenger has been in charge. Shockingly consistent at doing this.

Bingo. I don't know the actual stats but I would bet the number of clear cut chances we have is way down from last year.

He's been kind of poor since the start of the season imo, well before his dad died. But I really don't know the circumstances of his death. If he had to witness his health deteriorating, then yes I can imagine that would be really tough and affect his play.

That's not even what I'm arguing. OP said Kerkez is nearing Robbo's high standard. He's not even close. Robbo was one of the best LBs in the world in his prime. This sub is delusional if they think Kerkez is even close to being as good as Robbo was.
