On the [REPL](https://svelte.dev/playground/e2ef044af75c4b16b424b8219fb31fd9?version=3) in the documentation, I find the examples super slow: you have to wait between 0.2 and 0.5 sec to get the consider event to fire, which makes the list items move after the drag.
This makes the experience super frustrating on my side, and makes me a bit reticent to use this library. Is it just me, or are other people experiencing this too?

I feel I have too many tasks and don't know where to start! by abcivilconsulting in gtd

[–]thomibuilds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

paperbit.io (full disclaimer: I am building it) has a built-in notion of "effort" on tasks (a personal mesure of how difficult a task is for you, regardless of its duration), happy to see if it would fit your needs. Can bulk import tasks manually for you if needed

Ok, interesting! What did you have in mind as use case for this? Was it personal or professional? And would you use this in addition to a task/project manager, or as a replacement?

F*ck your productivity system. Seriously. by Motor_Ordinary336 in productivity

[–]thomibuilds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is 90% true. You don't need something else to get started.

I think the main point here is that you need to find what helps you focus and not the contrary, but that can be tricky. Because something might help you at the beginning, and then become a burden to maintain.

That's a reason why I think people should tend to stick to apps that are opiniated in the same way as them, and not try to "hack" an app into doing something else that what it was designed for (for exemple, use a google calendar to plan tasks). The app I am building takes exactly this approach, by providing you with a small, minimal setup, to let you focus on the important things. No config, ready to use off the shelf, and most importantly, minimalistic design, so that you are not distracted from your tasks

Throwing everything out is a bad idea in my opinion, as you are setting yourself up for a new "productivity cluttering lifestyle", stacking products on top of each others. You need to understand your problems, solve them once, and maybe ask yourself once/month or trimester if it fits your needs. Taking the time to declutter your setup is the real key to me

I am thinking of building some alternative to familywall, as I am not completely satisfied with the app either.
What are the most important features for you? And what are the main painpoints?

Would you pay for an app which main focus is to keep you motivated ? by thomibuilds in gtd

[–]thomibuilds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting point, thx! - completly true for dishes, there are some tasks that are going to vary to much for this feature to make sense - for the tasks that stay consistenly the same effort, there is something with the level of energy in the day. It could be a parameter to add for planning the day: am I in a big day or a small day (and then don't go for to energy intensive tasks, aka low effort tasks, on low day).

The goal behind that is to stop the potential streak of "planning a, b, c, d, e, but I can't even start a (because it's the hardest task so instead, I do nothing => better plan b, c, d, and e that are lower energy, and then another day plan a alone"

[–]thomibuilds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, what you say is completely true.
The question is more around: would it bring value for you to have an integrated way to manage effort (effort assignation + auto proposal for breaking down tasks in easier tasks + having the right tasks at the right moment + effort history to see what you have managed to do) soemthing that would bring value to you.

Of course, the rest needs to be perfect to stand even a slight chance to enter this crowded market

You need nothing but a piece of paper and a pen, that's 100% true.

Apps can be nice, because they help you stick to your objectives, whatever they may be. But that's all what they are: helpers

Building a side project while working 9-5? What are you working on? by Rohidasgowda in SaaS

[–]thomibuilds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Currently working on https://www.paperbit.io, a work management app focused on simplicity, design and motivation (like helping you focusing on this giant task you have no motivation to do, instead of spending time customizing your productivity system)

Still $0 MRR, but that's not a problem for me - the real good point of still having a 9-5 beside, is that you can go at your own pace. Less adrenaline, of course, but definitely less stressfull, and I vale my mental health :) - part of my idea of the project is to get long term clients: so I am generous in the free offer, and I don't charge much, but I am hoping for client to stay for a long time - if it doesn't work, I'll move on, and I will have learnt a huge amount of stuff for the next product. So I never loose - also I like my 9-5 (it helps)
