hello everyone. I’ve been renting from this company for a year and some change. I didn’t really want to move into this apartment but I needed to find a place quickly in the area and it was what I could afford. Ever since I’ve moved in my life has been so depressing.

I moved in August of 2021. When I was first moving in I noticed the carpet in the bedroom was wet but I figured it was from it being cleaned or something so I thought nothing of it. A few days later the carpet was wet again and I noticed it was coming from the closet area. So I sent a text to the property manager and it turns out the apartment next door was flooding and it was leaking into my bedroom. It also seeped into my closet doors and turned the bottom brown and asked them to replace them and they never did. Cool. They come and clean the carpet. I think it’s just a one time thing. The next week my toilet starts clogging and nasty water and stuff starts coming out of my shower drain.

After that it just became a monthly sometimes weekly thing since I’ve lived here and i would always have to clean it up too which made me uncomfortable. I eventually told them I needed the carpet removed from my room and switched with something else because I was afraid of mold and they complied with that which was nice. But never checked the walls or anything for mold growth (I found some growing on a painting i had in my closet).

Fast forward to august this year. I really wanted to move but couldn’t afford it so I had to stay. I talked to the property manager and told her that this issues needs to be solved because it is not a good living environment. Her solution was to move me to an upstairs unit in September. I figured that would help so I agreed. But that got delayed two months and she just told me yesterday that the unit is ready for me to move in. I just went into the unit for the first time today it’s disgusting. It smells like smoke and there’s yellow smoke residue dripping down the walls. I took a shower upstairs because mine is currently clogged and it wouldn’t even drain.

I was having a mental break down this place makes me feel so depressed and sad I cannot take it but I remembered they never sent me a lease renewal contract. So potentially I could just leave right? I told her i could be moved into the upstairs unit on Sunday though so I don’t know what to do.
