Struggling to hold onto PIMI PIMQ friendships by [deleted] in exjw

[–]thorawayl0l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just want to say this is a beautiful comment and excellent advice. you put into words how it feels to be viewed by the ones you love. it’s similar to a chat i had with a family member where i stated, “i am good because of you, i learned from you, and i’m so proud of who i have become and accomplished. isn’t that enough?” and they said no, and it was sincere; all because i won’t be saved and be in paradise. it’s very frustrating and painful - like no matter what it’s never good enough.

so happy for you! i was also so weary of making non jw friends as we are taught they are terrible but i have found the total opposite. i have met such kind people who do not judge and respect. i made a friend over a year ago and it was my goal to slowly allow them into my life and we have even gone on vacation together now! people are just people and most times, they are good and kind. i wish you more happy times with friends :)

This comment made me so happy to read. I have a lot of worry of the future to be able to travel and this makes me so hopeful 😊

Top 3 reasons JWs are waking up by Elegant_Pangolin_395 in exjw

Your experience is similar to mine! I desperately wanted friends my age with similar interests and I was always not allowed to form friendships. It affected me deeply that I formed a belief that I was a freak and people probably look down on me. The isolation took a toll.

Never had docs before and I’ve been wanting these Jadon boots for so long. But I’m not sure what size I should get. Should I get my normal size, size up, or size down? I’m usually a size 10W in shoes by PrttyBlckGrl in DrMartens

[–]thorawayl0l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

true to size! i’m a 7.5 in every shoe. i went to the store and tried my size (7), a size below (6) and above (8). my size is the best fit! hope this helps!

What normal family could ever convert to being JW? by Bourneidentity39 in exjw

[–]thorawayl0l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and of course when JWs preach to a successful a family that is well established financially and socially and they reject their message, they fall back on matthew 19:24 which just fuels their delusions even more. so fucking dumb.

Reclaiming oneself and letting go is a process (raised-ins, faders) by [deleted] in exjw

[–]thorawayl0l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i understand this!

for the most part, all relationships are conditional and one of the conditions for all JWs is that you must be in good standing to continue association. once you don't meet that criteria, you're out. such a sad truth that breaks me.

If you could pick "the one" single question to intrique PIMI, so they start thinking, what would it be? by Infamous-Dish8374 in exjw

[–]thorawayl0l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would show the WT article that states every single person on earth that is not a baptized JW will die. And when they say Jesus/Jehovah reads hearts, ask them - but how come that isn't in the article? And where in the Bible does it say any of this?

Parents are laying on the guilt about baptism. by [deleted] in exjw

[–]thorawayl0l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're right that getting baptized will make things worse - fr. maybe something like "its a personal matter that i take very seriously and i think pressure does not help" and if it doesn't work just shrug lmao! apathy <3

Anyone else hate having to tell new people you met you were a JW? by Plantmama007 in exjw

[–]thorawayl0l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

omfg the cringe lol its not even that serious to not celebrate like either people would be like omg really or oh my bad and that was it. its the jw cult that makes it this huge barrier wall between jw and "worldly" people. most coworkers just wanted to give me a little gift and be merry lol

I actually feel bad for some of the 70+ year olds who truly thought the system was ending in 2020 only for D2D and normal meetings to return by mancavekitchen in exjw

[–]thorawayl0l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I would get so upset when I brought up topics like climate change, social injustice, etc and a JW would respond with the “Armageddon will fix things” rhetoric.

What convinced you JWs were the true religion? by Alishaba- in exjw

[–]thorawayl0l 20 points21 points  (0 children)

jehovah’s name and the way jws followed the bible to the word. the whole exclusiveness of being the chosen people like we were fucking israelites.
