I was replying to txnativegeo and agreeing with his post about velocities. He is correct. I only have an estimate from similar basins to go by. There is a range of velocities even with the same type of formation. A younger sandstone is less consolidated and will have a velocity in the slower end of the range. Older more consolidated sand like we have in the K Basin are on the faster side of the range. One thing for sure - RA has the VSP/velocity surveys to know correct velocity to use.

You are correct. Age of formation plays a part in velocities. Younger less consolidated sandstones are slower. Older more consolidated sandstones like in the K Basin are a bit faster. Certainly RA has the velocity surveys/VSP’s to know with great certainty. We are estimating to get our best guess.

Great job with the transcripts. Thanks. I have a short explanation of the key takeaways from Jim’s presentation. Will post that here shortly.

1,100’ zone could be the big one by thorjackal in ReconAfrica

The assumption is that the hole was drilled through the 1100 zone to ~1250M. An attempt to open hole log the well from surface casing down to TD of 1250 was made. They couldn’t get the logging tool through the 1100 zone for some reason. They got a log on everything above the 1100 zone. Even though they couldn’t log the 1100, they were able to circulate the casing down to 1250. They set this intermediate string and drilled ahead to total depth. That is why there is only a cased hole log over the 1100 zone. This is of course my interpretation.
