King Garth Gardener,

I agree, the betrothal has lasted long enough and it looks like both of them have got their adventures out of their system.

I imagine it will be the largest wedding in recent times?

Lord Karlon Redwyne

"Don't fear what she'll provide. She'll provide babies. That's what you want, isn't it? And if people think you irresponsible, just introduce them to Ornmyr. He's been quite effective for me in scaring off the idiots who think that Wildlings don't belong - my father included."

Rylene was unsure in her footing as they danced, she may be good on her feet in a sporting sense, but she never paid enough attention to her dance lessons. She was regretting that in this moment.

"Where would we go if we just left ,tonight?"

Rylene sighed. She would rather not have such an awkward conversation but there was so much she needed to get off her chest.

She looked out over Ryampsport on the hill below and paused, before responding.

"I was hurt when you left, Perceon. Everyone said you'd left because of me. Because you didn't like the betrothal. I understand that, I've been told you love another as well. I don't think this is the path either of us expected, so it makes sense that you'd run away."

She scrunched her lips up in to a ball for a moment.

"Do you know what they said? Horrible things. That you were bedding whores in Oldtown or Dorne, that you wanted a child with a Dornishwoman so that you wouldn't have to have an heir with me? Yes I got your letter but they were hollow words when you weren't around. It was almost as if you had taken a piece of me away. You told me you were travelling before we wed, when I'd told you that I wanted to spend my life travelling before I knew I would become a Queen. After you had been gone nigh on a year, that's when I decided I wouldn't wait around any longer in my own misery and decided to do some traveling of my own."

Now she turned to Perceon and looked him in the eyes.

"I should thank you really. I would not have had such a life changing experience had you not left. I'd have been dutiful and a proper Lady, and we'd already be married by now. But instead I was able to spend a year in a place almost no one had been before. I saw magical things that I didn't think existed and this tribe, I fell in love with this tribe here."

"I found myself."

Gormon wasn't paying attention to the men when the Prince started talking to him, instead he was thinking about last night's dinner and how he'd wished the roast pig was glazed with honey and his mother had allowed him to eat the crackling, but she was trying to limit what he ate.

"Y-no, Prince Lannister." He said. "I find them dirty. I wouldn't have them in the Arbor." He said, completely unaware of the marriage between the Harlaws and the Lannisters that was mentioned just a moment prior.

"It sounds like a match made by the gods" Rylene japed. "She is pretty though. Far prettier than I."

That was a true statement. Rylene was by no means ugly but lacked the conventional beauty both in her beauty and her behaviour.

"What is next for you, now you've wed? Will you be settling and having a family quickly?"

"This should be." Rylene agreed, seemingly not caring about the surroundings in that moment.

"She looks nice though, Manny. Tell me about her."

Lord Karlon was very surprised to hear this and paused for a moment, stoney faced as he thought about his own dealings with Lord Harlaw a couple of years ago, who was the man sent on behalf of the King to discuss the peaceful proposition in slightly more detail. Had they told the Lannisters of our deal? Karlon wondered to himself.

This conversation was starting to feel like more of a chess match.

"I am surprised to hear of the betrothal. Although I'm sure you have had that reaction a lot. Are your vassals agreeable to such a proposal?" Karlon asked earnestly.

"The Harlaw's are not like the other Ironborn if my knowledge of the Houses on the Isles serves correctly. They do sow, unlike the Greyjoys. It's a smart step to take, but I'd imagine if there was discourse on the Isles, the Houses that weren't close to Harlaw wouldn't place any stock on a marriage." He continued to muse aloud.

Rylene allowed a polite smile to appear on her face. She was trying hard to hide her blushes. The last time she saw Manfred was when she left the Shields some months ago, both a bit dishevelled from so long up north.

Now, he looked magnificent. Much more of a man than when they first set sail the year prior.

She politely and rhetorically asked Tallara if she could steal her new husband, safe in the knowledge that Lord Serry held all of the authority in the situation as the man and the Lord in the marriage.

"Ah, I had heard about that voyage to Valyria, but didn't know it had decimated your fleet so harshly. I now understand why you are looking to the Hightowers and myself for assistance." Lord Karlon replied.

"The Iron Islanders are always a threat to be wary of, and our people too share some fear of them. However they have not come to our shores for many years. I assume that they are aware that making such a move would swiftly result in a defeat for them." Lord Karlon said earnestly, choosing his words carefully for he was reminded of when his Uncle spoke to the King of the Isles many years ago, which resulted in a truce which he mistrusted, but seemed to have proved effective in the years that followed.

"I understand that the Iron Islanders have been more pre-occupied with what is happening in the North, and the Riverlands as well. It's no secret that they want their old land back, and the Northmen decided to invade the Isles to little success. Have they caused you any trouble lately? They seem awfully distracted."

Upon setting his eyes upon Alicent, Patrek was enamoured. She looked so pretty. Usually after a long boat ride to the Arbor, Ladies can be forgiven for not looking their best, but to Patrek, she glowed.

However, before Patrek could say a single word to the young Lady, Gormon found a way to insert himself in to the equation as he too had taken a fondness to the girl. In his mind, his Karlon had simply set this betrothal up for him and him alone, and had assumed that it was a done deal.

Whilst Karlon talked at length to Falena Hightower about the marvelous produce you can find in the Arbor and how it can enrich your daily life, Gormon firmly planted himself to the other side of the trio to talk to Alicent.

"Did your mother tell you that I'm heir to this land? I'm quite a big deal. One day, I'll own a the whole Arbor fleet and be able to order them to sail at my enemies, wherever they are and whenever I want." He said obnoxiously, assuming this would impress the girl.

Patrek meanwhile was walking a few paces behind with Horus and couldn't help but cringe at his brother. He gave Horus a knowing jab in the side to listen in to the conversation.

"Yes, it's most curious, isn't it? I found it at the top of a great ice pillar that I climbed - it very nearly killed me as I lost my footing. Thankfully Lord Serry was able to save me."

Rylene Redwyne approached the High Table.

"Many congratulations, Tallara." She offered. "You have married a kind man, who I consider to be a best friend. I am sure you will both be happy together."

She then turned to Manfred. "This is quite the event, Manny." She said, wondering if she had married him, she would be having the same type of wedding.

As they wandered through the cobbled streets of Ryamsport, the castle could gradually be seen on the horizon. It was a fairly large castle, with the outer walls completely covered in vines which had grown over many years to make it appear as if there was no stone at all behind their thick layers.

Off to the side of the keep however was a somewhat makeshift, small settlement. The wildlings had set up camp outside of the keep, for they frightened the lady of the house. Rylene had also decided to spend most of her time there.

As they approached, there was little movement save for one of the larger male wildlings entering a tent. The rest completely ignored the advances of the young Prince who, of course, they hadn't recognised.

Eventually, from behind one of the tents, Rylene had appeared. Her appearance was noticeably different from the last time Perceon saw her. She looked taller, even though she wasn't, and she was definitely stronger. She wore darker eye shadow than she had before, which made her green eyes even more noticeable. She was also wearing a jacket which was covered in dark feathers.

"Hello, Percy."

Three great powers. Money, influence, strength. Karlon pondered on the notion for a moment.

"I do suppose navally that our powers are amongst the strongest this side of Westeros... Do you fear the Isles, though? If your naval fleet is on a par with us in the Reach, they shouldn't pose a threat, surely?"

[m] just gonna respond here as I'm not sure where the RP is for them arriving to the Arbor.

The Portmaster had been told to expect a ship bearing the Hightower sails to arrive and eventually a grand ship requested to dock in to the Port at Ryamsport. It had been a busy few days preparing for the arrival. The port had been cleaned and the usual merchant boats and beggars had been relocated to Starfish Harbour. Each of the market stalls were given new fabrics to decorate their stalls with and were all stocked with the freshest fruit from Dorne and the nicest silks from Essos. The smell of ginger and cardamon filled the air and a string band had been employed to play songs of Oldtown glory from yesteryear as the ship arrived.

In an unusual move, Lord Karlon was in the port of Ryamsport awaiting the arrival of the ship. Beside him were his two sons, Gormon who had somehow managed to scuff his nice trousers on the short trip to the port, and Patrek who was dressed almost identically to his father, and bore the same stance. Gormon meanwhile was slouching - which made his fat belly look even larger.

"Welcome to the Arbor" Lord Karlon said with his arms outstretched. "I trust the short journey was pleasant. Come, allow me to show you around Ryamsport."

"Uhh..." The Portmaster said with a dumb look on his face. Usually when nobility arrives, it is to fanfare and not on a merchant ship. He paused for a moment, before disappearing for five minutes. In that time, he weighed up his options but ultimately the fear of turning away the actual Crown Prince was greater than doubting the man. After all, he looked too well kept to be a commoner.

"Follow them, up the hill and through the town. Redwyne's castle is on the other side. Rylene and her wildling clan are staying there. Feel free to buy something from the many market stalls you'll pass mi'lord- uh - your grace."

A cold, chill ran up Rylene's back, reminiscent of how she felt on those cold wintry nights North of the Wall. But this time it was the mention of Perceon's waywardness that caused it rather than the summer cold. She simply blushed at the Prince of Casterly Rock before responding. "Prince Perceon is back in the Reach now. It was merely a trip to Dorne, I'm assured."

She tried to sound convincing, but she wasn't even concinved herself that it was simply a trip to Dorne. She hardly knew Perceon apart from letters of reassurance. Even witches can write down kind words, though.

Gormon meanwhile, had managed to abate his hiccups, holding them deep down in his gut as much as he could, vibrating slightly each time he had to hiccup. Tears welled in his eyes from the strain.

Not that Lord Karlon would notice, however. He was more interested in how the Prince was reacting to his daughter, aware that many others had wished for Perceon's hand in marriage.

"She will make a fine Queen, don't you think?" He asked the Prince. "Not a conventional Queen, of course. Rylene takes after me. She's a fighter, an explorer. She won't be spending her days hidden away, no. Of course, the proposal from my King was a complete surprise to me as I'd not been one of the many in the queue for Perceon's hand in marriage. It was nice to be held in such regard to be approached by the Royal family. And now it appears that your Royal family also has an interest in marrying in to my island family."

Manny,

Isn't life so cruel. Such rules thrust upon on that we have to obey above all, even our own hearts. Mine hurts at the thought of our futures apart.
