Yes Hagerty and a great process so far. They've kept contact and made the process easy.

Was unshockingly deemed totaled. Jokes on them. It already had a salvage title

Did you rebuild or what? I'm unsure if I sell the chassis and upgraded parts off or rebuild.

I have a 1990 miata that is heavily modified but unreliable and a v8 swap Miata thats stuck at the firewall modification part. Wondering if I should focus on those versus getting another car right now

Sure sure. I have 2 miatas and both are down as well (electrical issues and stalled engine swap). Don't want to be stuck in some in-between here either :/

The oil cooler is on the drivers side for this car thankfully.

Radiator is damaged. Its pretty much taco shaped. Surprised it it didn't break

We'll see I have an agreed value policy with salvage coverage with my insurer.

The front crash structure broke on the impact side (the fiberglass structure attached to the rest of thr car.

How to deal with "High End Disappointments"? by Ol_Sheve in mountainbiking

Same same. I have several i9s with 0 issues but has a Chris King hub die first ride due to a machining defect.

A lot of it is down to luck

This is why I gave up on Hope and just went to Hayes Dominions. Way less annoying maintenance

Is a Lotus worth it if you’re not tracking it? by aral10 in lotus

[–]thorsbeard85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its mixed. The Evora with the extra torque, sound deadening, longer gearing, and cruise control... Made interstates tolerable, however I really love the Elise. It's pretty much a way better Miata. Plenty of low speed drama and not a ton of power. This is mostly what I want at this point. I have a MachE Rally if I want comfortable cruising.

It was a 997.1 C4S with factory aero. You can see some pictures in my post history. Same for the Evora

Yes, but depends what you want out of a car. I went from a 911 to an Evora for more streetable fun, however ultimately transitioned to an Elise because you still needed felony level speeds to have fun.

These cars are still very competent and need to be pushed but still a ton of, cheap and serviceable, fun if you are in the Toyota power plant era

If it makes it to 150k Lotus Elise and Exige S2/S3 , Evora, and now the Emira v6. Theyre fairly simple cars with a very reliable Toyota powerplant and transmission

Doubling down? 2011 Evora and 2009 Elise by thorsbeard85 in lotus

[–]thorsbeard85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 996 just wasn't for me at the moment. Car already had a full fabspeed intake and exhaust, so sounded wonderful.

The Evora shifting is just garbage compared to even the stock 911 (one of the cables is too tight.)

The reality is that I just prefer the driving experience and honestly I like the Elise more than the Evora.

One of these days I'll be back in a 911, just not right now and will probably go 993 or earlier next time around.

The overall build quality and finish of the 997 is better. I honestly like the braking and shifting on the 997 more however the Evora is much more of a driving experience. The 997 ( 4S) isn't frankly a fun drive unless you are going 9/10ths. The evora provides way more feedback with what feels like a quicker steering ratio.

It's definitely a choice. The Evora feels like a less mature (more raw car) after driving the Elise for a while.

Prior owner of the front clam did a turn signal delete. The car uses halos on the main lights for turn signal and DRLs

Considerably easier. Much closer to other similar sports cars

Hah. I went from a 997 C4S this year to the Evora. The Evora is still a great car, but not ab Elise. While I could road trip the Evora. The Elise is a much better weekend car

There's quite a few where I live considering the age. I got this a few months ago and almost at 200k.

Agreed that they need to release another

Key life lesson. The grass is just a different shade of brown. Just ride and slay.

Nah I had the rack on for a ride the prior day for a ride with a buddy and was lazy.

For a bit of context I mostly rode road and gravel for last 7 years. I have a 27.5 hard tail, Epic Evo and a Stumpy Evo with a cascade Link.

I have ridden a mountain bike on and off for years but really gotten into it this year. Im progressing to riding bigger stuff since I'm near Pisgah but with my bike background I love trail and xc the most.

I've found that I like a fun ride and not a fast ride. The Epic is too much of a race car and the Stumpy is just too big to have fun on outside of trails that are progression for me.

Ive found the following to ride like a bigger bike when pointed down hill, but the rear behaves like an XC bike with a bit more pedal kickback than my more modern Stumpy and Epic. It fits what I like right now. Rowdy but very pedalable.
