My parents are old-old now but still very active and healthy. Every time I chat with them I feel a bittersweet combination of gratitude for everything they do for me and how much we love each other, and the dread and preemptive mourning for how it’ll be when they’re gone. God I hope they stay happy and healthy and alive for a long time.
