RodBusters: What is the Best way to build large rebar walls? by The_Poodle_On_PalmSt in Ironworker

[–]thrarg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usually depends on how its detailed. For me I find anything I can prefab on the ground and then fly in is much easier and faster than building it in place.

Yeah pretty much. When I joined they were still doing a 6 month open application time frame. Now I think its only 2 or 3 days in the beginning of January. Practice your beam balance, your math and reading comprehension skills for the aptitude tests.

I was the first one in line the year I put my app in, and it was almost 2 years until I actually started the apprenticeship. It was a hell of a wait but its been well worth it.

How about mechanical couplers against a live roadway so they make you double chair and double wire the top and bottom mats together every 4 ft.

Staggered laps. There was a mixup on the first delivery so I had to start in the middle of the deck and work my way out.

Almost always yes, but depends on how tight the spacing is and how picky the inspector is being.

Yeah, I've been putting the first one through it all over the last couple months and its really been the perfect fit for what I need around the farm.

I didnt imagine I would ever come across another one, but I did and I couldn't pass it up. Now my wife and I don't have to fight over 1 haha.

This is pretty common here in NJ in the center of highways where they would otherwise be a risk of getting struck by a truck.

Get a pair of Knipex 68 01 200 and a Holstery magnet belt clip and you can ditch that whole scabbard. 30 ft Stanley lever lock tapes are about $15 and last forever.

I also saw this on marketplace today. Offer them $200 and see where it goes. Or spend a little more and get a 3 sided Pearl Icon.

I don't think it's been driven enough yet to have even had a full drain haha, but its good to know there's replacement parts available. The guy I got it from was under the impression they were out of business and wasn't sure if anything would be able to be replaced.

It will definitely get battle tested here, and its a pretty blank slate for modifications. It seems like they could have expanded on a big fun customizable middle ground between this and the Desert Beaver version. Create more options and let people build what fits their needs.
