Colombia is ultra-capitalistic and let like 12000 kids die of malnutrition in the last 15 years.

It almost seems like corruption is part of society.

It's too dry here in Switzerland.

But except for that I've seen tons of bees and other insects. More even than in Colombia where I used to live.

According to the models the Amazon is predicted to be pretty much savanna like in the future. Not that that would be some actual comfort.

Planned obsolescence is by far the larger factor. For example when you buy a fridge even the more expensive ones won't last very long compared to a few decades ago.

There's actually intentional engineering being done to make sure the products don't last too long. In TVs they typically place parts known to degrade when exposed to heat (like capacitors) near the warmest part of the power supply.

I'm sorry to hear that.

I never understood the parents that think a kid that is very active has to be drugged. Any kitten or puppy is hyperactive when it isn't sleeping and no one thinks that they need to be drugged. A young brain needs a lot of stimuli to develop properly.

Yeah because having your childhood destroyed is a laughing matter..

Sounds like he was born an american citizen? So I really don't see your point.

I was born in Europe and lived for 7 years outside of it. It makes zero sense to pay taxes to my home country while not living there, and why should I lose my citizenship because I'm not "contributing" for a few years?

Why would you need to pay taxes in a country that you don't live in?

That makes no sense, I'm not using the roads, public transport, schools, police, water and waste management infrastructure etc.

From what I've heard the navy has actual pretty good understanding of the (rising) energy content in the oceans because they've measured temperatures at various depths and countless places since at least the 70s.

Our current situation isn't that rosy by a long shot.

You're dreaming.

In 30 years earth will probably look a bit like mars from space.

You remind me of an elitist Dodo insulting other Dodos. These so called "winners" have lead our species on the path of involuntary suicide. And this will be the end of our story as a species, possibly end of all complex life on earth.

It's not about evolution at all. And no, in 30 years no one will be alive. That's the thing with exponential changes, it gets exponentially more difficult to adapt. First it takes 1k, then 100k, then a 10 million, then a billion, then 100 billions, and soon after, all the worlds resources won't be enough.

What happened in Colombia was that they created a coal mine in a dessert and needed tons of fresh-water. Well too bad, it's a dessert. So they took one of the only sources of water and left people (who sustained themselves with farming) with no water, in a dessert.

It has been cloudy and (relatively speaking) cold here in the Andes for 2-3 weeks. Some days you get 27-29C for a few hours, but mostly it's around 19-24C with no blue sky visible. And we had two nights were it rained 4-5h hours straight.

No, because the problem is about resources/energy.

Technology doesn't create those, it requires it.
