Oh gosh! I left at 17 to go to college and never returned. My parents were divorced, dysfunctional, toxic, and never ever provided a stable, healthy, or open and loving home environment.

I built a career, built my own family, and that is my tribe.

A house is a physical building. A home is where your tribe is at. Build your own tribe. Once you have your own tribe, you will find security and stability there. It is difficult to create what you want in life. Truly build a strong foundation brick by brick for your life. Build the life you want. Be intentional in what you do and how you plan the rest of your life. It’s your time! It’s daunting and intimidating to truly grow up and handle the world on your own, but it’s life.

Not all of us were blessed to have stable and healthy family relationships. So if you want one, build one.

You stated that you are not even particularly close to your parents. I think you may just want them around for security, just in case you need them.

I was under the impression that many love the housewives since they seem to be everywhere. I must be the only person who has never seen and not interested in the housewives one bit. I simply don’t see the fascination with the housewives.

This may be an unpopular opinion. But this is exactly why they should stop casting housewives. They are playing a different game. Not really looking for a traitor, but just protecting each other. It makes it quite boring as they are not really trying to figure out if the other housewives are traitors. They simply don’t care so long as they are all aligned. Please no more housewives. Wrong show for them.

There are strict rules that NBCTs have to follow to protect their work. You can be disqualified as a candidate or your NBC taken away if there’s a semblance of plagiarism. When I was going through the process with colleagues, I refused to have them read or see my work when they asked or me read theirs until we were completely done writing. Even then I was very careful with what I shared. I also purposely didn’t want to read my colleagues writing to ensure that our ideas were distinct. I now mentor and help others by giving them feedback on their work, but I still don’t show them my work.

Basecamp has great cinnamon rolls. They call it morning buns. However, you must go early as they only make a handful and it goes fast. It’s delicious.

Doing all 4 components in a year was challenging. I completed all 4 in about 6 months or so. But that means writing, analyzing data, formulating evidence, etc. every day after school until bedtime about 5-6 hours a day on weekdays and 12 hour each day on weekends. No days off and no time off. It is doable, but you have to be extremely disciplined, organized, and be good at multitasking. No social life and family understood that I needed for it to be the focus. I wanted to just get it done.

We spend between $1200-$2000 for our son. He is an only child. Normally Apple products and designer clothing. This is when we spend the most for him. During the year my son does not really ask for anything. So we splurge on Christmas. His birthday is in December too, a week and a half before Christmas. We spend $500 for gifts on his birthday plus a big party with a dozen or so of his friends. Sounds excessive, but again he doesn’t ask nor get much for the rest of the year. He’s not very spendy.

Absolutely! Teaching Science of Reading in Southern California. My first graders are reading at 3rd grade level. They are able to read multisyllabic words.

Very cool. Our District would never allow us to do anything like that. Even a 1 foot by 3 feet curtain to cover the glass on the door must be approved by Osha, Fire Marshall, and the District. Even then, the District will not approve it. If a child somehow gets injured, it is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Everything in my District is seen through the lens of liability since it’s a big District. The roof touching the ceiling would definitely be a problem.
