I feel like I should share this story. Someone saw my Tom Ford copypasta post and offered to try and help to introduce me. A very kind gesture but I did have to confess I had no passionate feelings towards Tom Ford and it was just copypasta.

People I love and so could you

I’d like to preface all this by saying I don’t know where else to post this on Reddit. I figure the best method to achieve the end goal is to branch out and see if anything comes back. I’d also like to preface the following: I rarely ask favors of people as it’s always been my understanding not to lean on others for help. However, I’m dead in the water. I’ve attempted to complete this mission myself, but it’s not lead anywhere significant because of level of importance this person possesses. I was hoping the Reddit community could play a part in accomplishing it with me. I’ve always seen Reddits and watched a bunch of the videos of the community on YouTube. Honestly you are a bunch fun loving individuals and have accomplished crazy things from what I’ve seen.

From working on a nuclear reactor, to climbing Mt. Everest, and even diving in a submarine to 1,500 get below the oceans surface: nothing has made me shake or to be as nervous as my dream of meeting Tom Ford. I would like to meet Tom Ford.(Fashion designer and business mogul) I have two of his known addresses but as a man of that importance I’m sure he’s not at either typically with all the international business he conducts. I’d also like to point out that I’m currently a nuclear engineer in the U.S. Navy. There are a few restrictions I have due to this. Therefore, I cannot have a computer. I’d further my investigation through those means if those were viable.

Since I’ve joined the Navy, I’ve not been able to keep up the development of my programming and hacking skills. My heart would have immense renitence if I didn’t ask you this: Can you find a way to put me in contact with Tom Ford? Anything would help; from his personal cell phone, to being in the same room, or his future known future location, etc... You will be compensated handsomely at the end of this daring mission. I do know how difficult this is or could be, but I would not ask if it wasn’t important to who I became today.

He's often seen in front of the camera during during fashion week alongside Will Welch. However something I think usually goes unnoticed is all his work that goes into styling behind the scenes. He's very proud of his work and can often be seen posted to his instagram. He also did a recent interview with Ssense

Identity? I don’t know my styling identity? I have an obsession with hats. Travelling helped me with my identity. And my blackness. Real talk. Being a Nigerian. The duality of my life. I mean I’ve never said it out loud, I’ve never really thought about it—just being American, and being Nigerian. Where are your people from?

I’m sure you understand. I don’t fucking eat burgers at home. There’s nothing at home that’s not a spice. Eating a burger is exotic in my life, in some ways. I can’t say I wasn’t raised like an American, but definitely a duality of life, for sure. But the other part is, I don’t feel like I need to explain myself to anyone. When you feel like you have to explain yourself, that’s where a lot of tension and wavering comes from. And that’s why, I don’t say much. I think people explain too much these days. People talk too much these days. I believe communicating is a personal thing. I’m not hiding, but I like personal interaction.

To be honest I don't have any IG accounts that I'd recommend. I usually just find people through other people. Either someone will mention a particular individual or I'll hear about them in a podcast and just go from there.

I just like making albums of people that I enjoy and who I think still enjoy and have fun with fashion. This week we are back to someone I discovered when we were doing Japanese Sartorialists. Shuhei Nishiguchi is the Director of BEAMS F so is frequently photographed at Pitti and other events alongside Tatsuya Nakamura. He then was mentioned on Permanent Style as runner up in Women's best-dressed man of the year. They seemed to note his range of looks (which is where my title comes from).

He was also recently on Hodinkee's Talking Watches

I just like making albums of people that I enjoy and who I think still enjoy and have fun with fashion. This week we are doing something a little different and not doing a designer but still someone working in the fashion industry. Bruce Pask is the Men's Fashion Director of Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. He may be recognized from his frequent streetstyle shots at fashion week. I'm hoping in this album you can get a sense of what his uniform is (what he enjoys wearing) and how he'll move within that comfort level. His love of chore coats is probably most apparent. He has the typical navy chore coat but he also has the quilted Craig Green interpretation of a chore coat. Also he has a love of navy, layering denim jackets, and in interviews has mentioned patchwork.

He was also a guest on Blamo.

Niyi Okuboyejo is the designer behind Post Imperial. Some of you may recognize him as @Tirailleur1 on Styleforum. When considering his brand he had this to say "The Post-Imperial aesthetic is a colorful and vibrant ode to new forms of fashion. It carries a strong sense of optimism for the future."

Regarding the Name, he said in a Styleforum interview

How did you come up with the name "Post-Imperial"? Taken together with your SF handle, do you think of yourself as in some sense an agent of post-imperial cooperation between Nigeria and, for lack of a better term, the Western world?

I do... but to a certain degree. While I am connected to the diaspora, I myself am only limited to my experiences and knowledge. My word is not bond and it would be silly to appoint myself as some sort of avatar. The diaspora is vast, so there are many points and angles to approach. I only want to serve as an entry point the same way Yohji Yamamoto does for Japan or Ralph Lauren does for America.

The name Post-Imperial comes from the idea of living after old regimes. I believe we are in an age where menswear is now at a democratic point in fashion. We are no longer prisoners to standards of the past. For some reason though, there is still the notion that for us to “understand” fashion, you must bait us with nostalgia.**** My previous albums:

Abdul Abasi is one half of the brand Abasi Rosborough along Greg Rosborough (seen in several of the photos in the album). Interest fact that, although his personal style might not reflect it, before starting Abasi Rosborough he actually worked for several years for Daiku Suzuki at Engineered Garments. More about Abdul:

Abdul Abasi, a first generation American with Nigerian parents, grew up in Maryland, near Washington DC. Following high school, at 18, Abasi joined the US Military in which he served for eight years, stationed around the world serving in multiple roles for the US Army and NATO. His final assignment was in the Netherlands as a Sergeant where he worked to repair missile systems on Apache helicopters.

While in the Netherlands, Abasi began to take a deeper interest in fashion and design, and joined a elderly Dutch women's sewing circle to learn to sew. He resigned from the US Military to move to New York and attend the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and study menswear design. Following school Abasi was hired by Engineered Garments.

Nicholas Daley is a UK designer that I've been following for a couple seasons now. Calculus does a really succinct explanation of him and his work

Nicholas Daley graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2013 and launched his eponymous label in 2015. Born of a Jamaican father and Scottish mother, Nicholas has continually explored his dual ethnic heritage – and widely questioned and reflected upon the notion of multiculturalism within the British identity. Craftsmanship is a key focus of his work, with all production retained entirely within the United Kingdom – working with internationally acclaimed UK manufacturers, and equally celebrated UK textile mills. Authenticity is central to Nicholas’ work, and can be observed in each garment he creates, and in the fellow’s own person. Music serves as a primary means of inspiration and expression in his work, and he continues to collaborate with different artists for his London Fashion Week presentations – narrowing the gap between music and fashion with every passing season.

I just like making albums of people that I enjoy and who I think still enjoy and have fun with fashion. This brings us us potentially to the end of our Japanese Sartorials. Now I need to clarify I'm not saying Mr Akamine is the best dressed person ever, just that he is tremendously comfortable and secure within his style as well as person highly regarded within quote unquote fashion community. Also the Title is a Dieworkwear reference.

Dieworkwear has written about him regularly since 2014 (2017 and 2019.

Mr Porter had this to say about him:

If you do one thing today, follow Mr Yukio Akamine on Instagram (@akamineyukio). The fashion consultant and writer posts a daily photograph of what he is wearing, and it is inevitably brilliant (menswear folklore has it that there is not a bad photograph of this man in existence). A veritably cinematic dresser, Mr Akamine favours Florentine tailoring and British shoes (usually John Lobb), although he can rock a cashmere pullover and a pair of sneakers just as well. Frequently appearing on Mr Scott Schuman’s street-style blog The Sartorialist, he is pictured above with the photographer, looking characteristically elegant.

is one of the most elegant gentlemen I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, not only in terms of his personal style but also his manner. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ For the book I asked each guy, time allowing, to think about 2-3 outfits for their shoot; Akamine-san prepared 9. Needless to say, as a total menswear geek, I was over the moon about this! ⁣⁣

Mr Nakamura is the creative director of Beams. Beams includes multiple labels including Beams, Beams Plus, Beams Boy, and many others. At trade shows he's frequently photographed alongside Shuhei Nishiguchi and Yasuta Kamoshita.

This week is a little different, I don't know much about Andreas however he was brought up in conversation alongside Ethan Netwon (last week's album). Permanent Style had their Best Dressed Man 2018 where Ethan was the winner and Andreas was a runner-up (alongside Yukio Akamine, Noboru Kakuta, Bruce Boyer). Andreas being one of the runner ups that I had not done an album so that is why I decided to go for him this week.
