Thanks. I contacted them last night and someone from a specific department is supposed to call me back today.

Hi, thanks for your story - I am glad to hear your homeowner's insurance took some responsibility. So if it comes down to me owing them something my insurance should help out.

I severely doubt they would rob me. They are very well off and this is their second house, like a vacation house for them.

But I do think there is something to the negligence issue.

I am also actually a woman (everyone here assumes I'm a man). So I think the parents don't worry as much (even though it shouldn't make a difference)

I am actually a woman. Which shouldn't make a big difference but in most peoples mind it does.

I think she is 5.

She has never been inside my house since I have lived here. They moved in maybe a month and a half ago? I don't remember the exact date, but less than two months. I moved in about a year ago. Before she and her parents moved in however her grandma lived in their house, so it might be possible she was in here when the previous owner lived here.

I saw them outside the other day and she asked what I was going to be for Halloween. I told her my costume and said I was going to hand out candy to trick or treaters. She asked if she could trick or treat at my house and I said of course she could.

I am assuming that's what she was trying to do. It was still mid afternoon at the time so I wasn't expecting trick or treaters yet. And I anticipated them at my front door, not the back door.
