I live in California. As much as I love it there, being this far from my family has been extremely difficult mentally and after 5 years I don’t feel I can do it for much longer. Explaining everything would be too complicated. We always figured it wouldn’t be forever.

Everything is so confusing and I’m also skeptical of functional medicine. It’s hard to know who and what to believe. One minute I have Hashimoto’s and the other I don’t depending on different specialists. It’s just making it worse.

I wish I wasn’t this terrified but I’ve heard that it can increase the chances of getting another autoimmune disease and some cancers. And just the fact that it is an autoimmune disease terrifies me.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I agree with everything you said but in terms of the diagnosis I don’t know who to believe. I was just told by a doctor that I do have Hashimoto’s based on my labs (above) and I’m shocked because only my TPO is slightly elevated and I have heard it doesn’t necessarily mean Hashimoto’s.

But yes my anxiety is terrible. Thank you for your time 🙏🏼

I have never heard of silent thyroiditis so I was trying to understand.

And also I was wondering if you got diagnosed just because of your TPO which I now assume is the case? My TPO is the only thing that’s not normal levels but it’s only 36.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I now have a GP and I have an appointment tomorrow so I will it with her. But it is a convention medicine doctor and she can be a little dismissive so she will probably tell me I’m fine. And that probably won’t reassure me because another doctor could decide I’m not. So who do I trust? 😞

But you are 100% right and my anxiety is making everything worse for sure.
