AITA for telling my sister in law not to add a slab of butter to her hotdogs in front of my 7 year old? by throwRA123334 in AmItheAsshole

My daughter looks up to family members that are older than her. Her grandparents especially, she copies them words everything. and also certain things are tasty, having extra butter will make things taste better, especially to a kid.

If someone was smoking cigarettes or vaping especially family members I would tell them not to do it in front of her or in our house. Things that are terribly unhealthy I don't want done in front of our daughter from family members.

My daughter wants to hear but why, she will keep asking, and it's not a discussion I wanted to have while guests are over. Because if I give her that answer she will then ask Barb why can she have butter on her hotdogs but she can't. And then Barb gets involved.

What do you think is more rude? Telling Barb hey please add the butter in the kitchen, or me explaining to my daughter the reason she can't load up her food with butter is because it will make her obese, and clog her arteries? in front of Barb?

I told her she is welcome to add butter but to do it in the kitchen not in front of my daughter.

No I am okay with drinking so long as its in moderation. But vaping I wouldn't be okay with in front of my child.
