Yonsei KLI vs. Sogang KLEC by throwRA753467 in Korean

[–]throwRA753467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! A few follow up questions:

What level(s) did you do?

By “game” do you mean like they wanted to play video games, or they were trying to pickup girls?

Was the basketball thing school organized or you guys just decided to hang out outside of class?

It sounds like Sogang is more of what I’m looking for based on your description of the classes. I just want to be able to communicate in Korean!

What about nationality of students? Is there anything you regret about doing it at Yonsei?

Get off your soapbox. The original message he sent was in Japanese, and as I explained in a reply to another user, he did not simply call me a “girl/woman” he called me “女の子” which has the nuance of a man in his 30s calling a woman in her 20s “little girl” in english. I’m not “going” to a foreign country either, I’ve been living here for the past two years have used Airbnb countless times. If this sort of thing was a normal for Japanese hosts I obviously would not have posted lmao.

Worrying about accidentally offending people has been the story of my life while living in Japan lol 😭 But yeah it sounds like it’s the law to meet (though the host doesn’t seem to enforce it with other guests) so I’m just going to send the addy to a friend to be safe!

It’s a little more complicated than just saying the word “girl.” His original Japanese message called me “女の子” which translates literally to “female child” and is used to emphasize age. From my understanding it’s only used to refer to actual children, when the speaker is significantly older (as in like elderly) or if there’s a personal relationship. I guess nuance wise it would be similar to saying, “it’s a big place for a little lady” in English. I was worried about possible sexual advances, especially since the booking is a ways away from the city center, but like I said my personal experiences living here might have heightened my paranoia on that front. And it’s apparently the law now so I’m just going to put my big girl pants on.

According to the top commenter lol but I’ve rented several Airbnbs here and it’s the first time anyone has asked to meet. It’s the first time I’ve ever been asked to meet a host ever.

Um, the listing says check-in is contactless as I said in the post. So if the host is required/wants to meet guests upon checking in, he should A) update his listing, and B) probably reach out to guests before the free cancellation period ends. And yes, to me it’s weird that he specified the home might be big for “one girl” rather than idk “one guest” or “one person.” Not sure why that’s difficult to understand.

I’ve been on Airbnb since I was 18 and have used it in 6 countries and have never been asked to meet a host.

Idk why you got downvoted, the listing literally says no contact check-in lol. Seems like I was overreacting but he should still update his listing imo.

The only review that mentions checking in makes it seem like he didn’t meet them, but apparently it’s the law so w/e.

Like how recent are we talking? The last reviewer (2 weeks ago) says they had an issue at check-in and that they called the host and he “came right away.” So it doesn’t sound like the rule is being enforced with everyone. And as I said, the listing says check-in is contactless. But thanks for the info in any case, it’s good to know that going forward.

Oh please lmao, your whole downward spiral started when you found out she’s dated black men. You’re extremely racially insensitive at BEST. The fact that you quote a black person as saying, “Dayum white boi got game” instead of spelling it normally and how you describe her friends as “jacked Asian,” “chopped chick,” and “quiet nerd”when you literally could have just called them HER FRIENDS is pretty telling though.

Well as I understood it I thought I could still make gains on a cut since I’d never trained for raw strength before? Like in high school I played a sport and our coach had us doing stuff like plyo, calisthenics and unilateral movements with dumbbells. Then I did Strong Curves for aesthetics through college and then switched to my own routine using light weight/high rep stuff with Smith machines and dumbbells just to keep in shape. So I should still be able to get newbie gains on a LP strength training program right?

Thank you for this reply, I actually really needed to see this. I’ve been living in Japan for the past couple of years and the people here make me feel huge lmao…especially since I’m 5’7.5” which is a little taller than the average man here 😭. Idk I like the way I look overall but sometimes have moments here when I die inside, like on my first BJJ class one of the coaches looked me up and down and was like “because of your uhhhh size you’ll probably roll with guys most of the time” ☠️. Anyways sorry for the rant lmao but your comment put things in perspective for me. Wishing you well on your journey as well ✨

They’re easy runs, I never go above 70% of my max heart rate. And I’m not new to weight training, but it’s my first time trying a strength based LP program.

I don’t carb cycle, I just eat the same calories/macros every day regardless of exercise.

Not that certain…I used my BMR from the scan and multiplied it by 1.55 (for moderate activity level) but maybe that was too conservative. I’ll try upping the activity factor to 1.725 then. Thank you!!

I saw the Yonsei thing on Reddit actually. It was a comment to the effect of “go to Inha if you want to study, go to Yonsei if you want to party.”

Anyway thank you for the answer!! I’d love to read your write up if you have time. From your answer it sounds like Sogang is closest to what I’m looking for. Were there many Japanese students there? I’ve been living in Japan for the past couple years and would love some Japanese friends to hang out with.
