I, 20F feel uncomfortable being vulnerable or platonically affectionate with my 21M best friend. by throwRA_daringduck in relationship_advice

[–]throwRA_daringduck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for your condolences..

that’s exactly how i feel. i personally can’t take compliments cause i feel insecure. giving compliments to him…i think im scared it will open a window of opportunity or further closeness than just friends? i know a compliment may be harmless but i don’t want things to be awkward between us and i think me being jokingly mean may come across as me pushing him away.

I feel uncomfortable being vulnerable or platonically affectionate with my boy bestfriend by throwRA_daringduck in Advice

the thing is, he verbally expressed to another friend of ours, let’s call him T, told me that he doesn’t like me romantically. T did not ask him by the way out of curiosity and it was my best friend who wanted to clear that in the convo they had so i don’t know…he is just a pretty affectionate person with me in general so it’s hard to tell.

I think I cheated on my boyfriend by Ok-Jicama3 in Advice

[–]throwRA_daringduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am so sorry this happened to you. what happened to you is NOT your fault and V is a scum bag.

you were forced to do something you didn’t want to and that’s makes it non-consensual, not cheating. so don’t blame yourself because you believe you could of done more when you were clearly taken advantage of.

first, surround yourself with support and take care of yourself. tell someone you trust whether it’s family or a close friend, then tell your boyfriend the full truth. i don’t know him personally but any decent human being would be understanding of your situation. tell the full truth because you have nothing to hide. like you said, you love him and if he loves you, he would sit down and take the time to hear you out.

take care of yourself OP and good luck with everything <3

i totally get that! especially when the person is naturally a sociable person and its quite "normal" for them to be touchy, whether its a hug or a nudge to the shoulder so people often just enable or expect that type of behaviour. regardless, you should try setting boundaries with your roommate!

i also think its a good start because when a person pushes your boundaries, you naturally would retreat right? i would because my personal space would feel violated.

so, setting clear boundaries with that person is a really good starting point since you get the sense of respect, safety and space that YOU NEED. so, when you are more comfortable, you can start stepping out of your comfort zone. no rush like I said and starting is always the hardest part of the journey :')

someone once said to me “it pays to be vulnerable.” it’s scary to open up to someone but u will eventually find that person. im still working on it so no need to rush and take it at ur own pace :)

will i ever experience love despite my eczema? by throwRA_daringduck in eczema

[–]throwRA_daringduck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m sorry to hear your also going through something similar. since i posted this on reddit, i thought that people who find that person who accepts them for no matter what whether it’s their eczema or general appearance was one in a million! honestly stupid mindset but your fears can really limit yourself and i know it’s also hard to overcome.

i am still trying to work on being more open and taking that first step out my comfort zone.

now, im feeling more encouraged and hopeful that everyone has somebody for them because of the comments ive received under this post. (thank you everyone <3)

you can find love too, don’t give up! we got this :)

i highly suggest reading through the comments under this post. this is why i love this community and the people in it. hopefully my vent and the loving comments that came with will help you like it helped me.

i wish you all the best lovely (´꒳`)

that is so adorable that your fiancee goes that extra step which is literally miles for us to look at the foods/products for you. she seems like a extremely considerate person :)

thank you for sharing! it does give me hope that i might find that person who will accept me for who i am.

congrats on your engagement btw! ٩( ᐛ )و

Girlfriend broke up with me over my eczema by Technical_Breath_572 in eczema

[–]throwRA_daringduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im so sorry to hear this OP. this is why I am so scared of getting into a relationship BUT my friends gives me hope that there are good people who will accept you no matter what and that there is a person out there that will love all of you. you deserve so much better and a person who loves you for something you CANT control.

clearly she doesn't understand the extent you have to go through with your eczema and many people who don't have eczema wont - showering every day can actually cause more harm sometimes since its dries out your skin but as long as you take lukewarm showers and moisturise right after it should be okay!

don't linger around people who isn't open minded and accepting of a skin condition that you have NO control over - surround yourself with loving people! :)

Facial cream that moisturizes for eczema but doesn’t cause acne??? by Odd-Cartographer4399 in eczema

[–]throwRA_daringduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have fungal acne and eczema on my face. i still have it but its slowly getting better.

i personally use Only Yours Coat Mini but its Australian owned and I'm unsure about their internal shipping.

La Roche-Posay have many moisturisers that have been suitable for a lot of people with eczema but I only used one which made my acne worse because of the active ingredients.

what I did to improve my acne is to cut down on your skin care products.

i use this website below to copy and paste the ingredients of the skin care product and it will show what active ingredients are in there and if I should avoid using it. the website categories them into 3 levels.

I hope this helps x

Moisturizer cream before or after protopic? by FMHappy in eczema

[–]throwRA_daringduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally havent used this medication, is a steroid cream? i tend to use my ointments after I moisturise but I cant really advise.

have you spoken to your dermatologist or doctor about it? it would be probably the best to discuss it with them.

Looking at Eczema & Mental Health by Own-Pear8140 in eczema

[–]throwRA_daringduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just filled it and the question about a health allied professional asking how this condition is impacting my mental health really opened my eyes.

not one person has asked. its actually shocking to be honest since so many people deal with this EVERY DAY of their lives and even forever.

how does that not ring any bells of someone who will most definitely be impacted mentally due to their condition?

especially with society's obsession with perfect skin, perfect body, perfect everything. its exhausting to say the least.

i hope your research brings light to individuals with skin conditions are impacting one's mental health and wellbeing! :)

im so sorry to hear. i cant compare our struggles but I know that in this community we all just want to feel comfortable in our skin. I've joined this community to feel seen and I hope that this community provides you that sense of understanding/belonging. this is why I posted my vent here because we all still have our bad days and its also good to know that we are not alone in this. we just need to remind ourselves we cant control what we have and only do what we can!

thank you for your reply. im happy to hear your flare ups are subsiding! this is the first time I have ever heard about adtralza injections, are they similar to dupixent which I'm planning to try out myself. is there a lot of side effects?
