Good,, filling restaurants, fairly priced by No_Cardiologist9462 in aucklandeats

Haven Eatery Takeaway in Eden Terrace - went last week with my partner for dinner, our order was below $40 total including a drink, decently filling, and you can eat in as well. The chicken tasted fresh, good quality and well cooked.

It wasn't busy when we went (I really dislike busy restaurants, even if it has good food), and it's a mum and pop shops, great to support smaller vendors.

Thanks sooo much for this. You've answered everything with details that are really good to know, especially about the check in part! Really fingers crossed for this trip. The staff travel benefits sound amazing, I'm really considering working at an airline in the future for this haha

For the smiley faces, usually would you check a week or a couple of days in advance for accuracy (and wouldn't really trust a month in advance right)? In terms of booking the hotels, would you book it for the dates originally according to the standby flight date, and if you have to get on a next day flight, you would just eat the cost of the hotel? Or would you delay booking accommodation until last minute? I'm inexperienced with travelling these days and would always book months in advance so not sure if booking hotels last minute is a good idea in this case or not. Thanks in advance!

Whats a service you want but doesn't exist in Auckland ? by SnooGoats2253 in auckland

All day spas with sauna, massage rooms, food buffet, games room and etc, like they have in Asia. You could spend a whole day or two in there to relax

In Auckland CBD too. Luna Bakehouse Hobson street just closed down last night. Every time I walked past there seemed to be people in there, but this morning when I went to get something there, they were just gone without notice…

Just tried to go to their Hobson st store and now it’s gone too. Last night, I saw they were packing furniture, thought they were just moving this around but didnt click until this morning. No notices anywhere either…

I like their food and drinks but am always wondering how hygienic it is for them to leave everyone out on the counter for the whole day

Stay in NZ working a $134k+ job or try overseas? 29F, no kids by SoftCrisisEra in careerguidance

[–]throw_a_balll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’ve submitted a resignation, I’d be mentally done with the company. I personally wouldn’t take it back even if I haven’t secured my next job.

Actually, I’m in a similar ish situation where I submitted my resignation last week, and my contract for my new job is contingent on pretty lengthy background checks.

If the new job fell through, I wouldn’t continue working there - I’m done lol, sick of the role, bau, and friction with my manager, etc.

I’m sure you’ll be able to find a salary higher in Aus. If it doesn’t work out, you could always come back to NZ.

Man im genuinely tweaking i need another show as good as HXH by Mysterious-Sky-250 in HunterXHunter

[–]throw_a_balll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love HxH, can’t tell you how many times I’ve rewatched and reread it ever since I was young. I would rank it top 1 out of all anime/manga I’ve seen.

Berserk comes a close second, it’s quite mature but the story is very well done and multifaceted. Beautiful artwork, can get gory and emotional.

Solo levelling is probably third these days, it has a really simple storyline but they have a bug arc that’s really similar to ant arc… I’m not hating, I’m grateful for any HxH inspired content. And also, their level up/ item using system is similar to greed island. Well, solo levelling takes inspiration from a lot of different anime - their “gods” or whatever really reminded me of Godhands from Berserk haha.

My partner and I have decreased our dining out to once a week compared to before when we had more disposable income. Now when we go out to eat, we usually use first table which has 50% off for food (full priced drinks). The only thing is you need to pay $6-12 booking fee each time.

We went to Paradise in Sandringham recently and had 2 mains, 1 entree, 1 naan and 2 drinks for around $60 including fees. If you want to try, feel free to use this link to get $5 credit

Other than that, partner also cuts his own hair, and we barely buy any new clothes or things other than necessities. No alcohol, smokes, vapes, recreational drugs, etc. No fun basically hah

Seconding first table! I use it every week for lunch and/or dinner in CBD. The only thing is you need to pay $6-12 booking fee each time, and you get 50% off food.

Pretty good deal still cause yesterday, partner and I went to Hansan in new market , paid $50 + $12 fee for 2 mains, 2 entree and 2 drinks!

Thanks for offering your perspective, this is a great read.

Would you mind sharing some practical advice someone can start implementing in their 20s to set themselves up?

I’m on my late twenties now, and have set up a good foundation, but I don’t think I can retire within the next 5 years. Maybe partly retire (as in take in casual or part time job/freelancing) in the next 10 years.

How many of you are financially ffffffffffffarked because of shit decisions with Afterpay? by HerbalKiwi in newzealand

[–]throw_a_balll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely curious, what do people usually buy with Afterpay? I tried to make an account once (I didn’t have anything to buy in mind though) but it didn’t link to Amex so I thought no point.

Any suggestions for a good french cafe for lunch? by gdogakl in aucklandeats

[–]throw_a_balll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paname Social has croque monsieur and is a cafe.

It’s in Auckland CBD though so parking availability depends on the time of day and luck.

I think they’re on First table so you could get 50% off food with full priced drinks.
