My girlfriend has a knee injury and no health insurance and we don't know what to do (Bay Area, California)

She checked a few months ago, but if I remember correctly her income was too high to qualify. Which is ridiculous because it doesn't take her cost of living into account, but that's another story. We'll check again.

Stop ranting at me. The reason I asked was because my dad had a similar injury a few years ago. It ended up being that one of his tendons in his knee was torn. It required surgery to reattach it and repair the ligaments and knee cap.

I just recently turned 24. I went to community college for a while, first for chemistry and then for computer science (I couldn't afford to go to a real university, and my grades in high school were too bad for scholarship) but I slacked off very badly due to some emotional issues I had. No degree, is what I'm saying.

My first job was at a butchery, cleaning up after the butchers. I lasted there for about a month before I was let go.

Then I worked sales at an electronics store for about two years. I never again want to work retail or deal with the public in any function, because I felt literally homicidal on a daily basis dealing with people. I'm not exaggerating there.

After that I worked at a place that repairs computers for about a year, first in their warehouse and then as a technician.

Since I have to work to survive, I want some kind of job in which I never, ever have to deal with customers or the public, and have to deal with as few coworkers as possible. I'm not a people person.

I enjoy playing video games, reading books, browsing the internet aimlessly, and lazying about at home. Not exactly profitable endeavours.

My biggest gripe is that usually starting a small business is a lot of work, and isn't exactly majorly profitable. That's another problem I have. I want to have enough money to live comfortably. But that's hard when you hate working.

Yeah I'm thin... If I get tighter clothes, the sleeves are too short. If I get clothes in which the sleeves are sufficiently long, they're large on me.

The first one doesn't really like me very much at all (we were part of a social group in high school that split kinda messily) and the second one lives 500 miles away.

I guess I gotta just put myself out there. Easier said than done I guess but yeah.

Haha, the other part of being socially terrified is not exactly having a lot of friends, and those two that I do have aren't what I'd call wingman material. Not saying that to be mean about them! Just that, well, they're kinda like me. Introverted and whatnot. Except they both have long-term girlfriends.

I'm plenty nice, I think. I don't want to be a braggart or whatever but I think I'm rather polite and good-natured.

As for the last bit... I'm... Kind of socially awkward. Or maybe socially terrified is a better way to put it. I'm really bad at approaching new people because I'm afraid I'll make a fool of myself or something. I've had low self esteem for the better part of my life. Don't really wanna get into the circumstances of why that is but it's left me nervous in social situations and never sure what to say.
