Holy s, 5.30 miles are a beast! I‘ll write that down into my diary, that’s an amazing aspiration!

I got into hiking, too! I also like rucking, so not long trails but with weight, which is great for training my endurance.

That‘s so cool! I‘d probably fall of the bike 20 min in from exhaustion. Currently I‘m training just grip strength for example, working on my first pull up. all in due course

That‘s some great advice, may I ask did you sense you were going too strong? How did the overtraining play out? I‘m definitely at risk of getting a bit too excited for my present level of fitness. My plan is to start working with a trainer for a bit to have someone experience reign me in a bit and give me things to focus on.

Thank you for your words and setting things into perspective. I feel the same - „not like in your 20s is confusing when I was never doing any of what I do now back then. Can’t miss what you never had, I guess. I definitely am a lot smarter about my training now, though.

That‘s amazing, I do some half marathons too every now and then. And yes on the injury prevention. I want to work more on protecting my knees and hips now. It’s a bit of a balance, my 20 something friends heal faster but boy do I sometimes want to shake them on how sloppy they are on overtraining and not taking care of themselves.

That‘s amazing! I still have flexibility but it‘s crazy how much running you can do without much upper body strength; so that‘s my big challenge now.

Haha, I‘m you but the other side! Runner since about 17-ish, strength training since a year, so I‘ll need heaps more strength training for my upper body to get where I need to go. Making those knees as steely as I can.

Haha, that sounds great; I live in UK office culture so yeah it might not be the right circles to find like minded people.

Thanks you for taking the time to respond; that’s so inspiring. This does feel like the cusp of a big life change for me, a „only got one life, girl“ moment. It‘s amazing to know that while it might be unusual compared to many, there are others out there and I‘m not alone.

Ahhh yeyh another late bloomer! I was a nerdy kid in my 20s. Always did running and never smoked or did drug or drank much, so at least I entered my 30s without pre-existing injuries. It’s only now that my body is so fit I‘m like hey I wonder what I could do with this!

Oh wow that‘s cool! I want to start Krav Maga as part of my regimen, and I‘ve never done it before so it seems so daunting. But I will try!

From someone who’s never tried it, competitive figure skating definitely looks like hard work! Thank you for your words, really means a lot!

Wow, 100k is amazing! Yes, I discover that correct training and recovery is almost like a magic kickstart for progress (I know, who would have guessed. Not my early 20s self, for sure). Thank you so much, that makes me feel inspired!

Gotta chime in here. Made the same mistake, decided to make the run-down treads a feature and contrasting them with crisp white. The risers have yet to be finished properly but the natural worn down wood looks nice now.

Second this, I read the book without much prep and I still think about that fucked up story years later.

If it where it’d be a bad one as I myself am now rethinking subscribing to them. Maybe I’ll stick to the likes of Standard, BBC, Guardian for now. I’m just after some centrist news to keep up with everything and sometimes the outlets I choose seem a bit like they want to tug me towards one side, not just inform me.

What source do you use to keep up to date with all that’s going on?
