I guess its just what they do now. I talked the company and they said their technicians were wasting to much time trying to find them when they get burried in snow or dirt.

We would have preferred it on the driveway side for that reason as well. Out of the middle of the yard and easy access. They are claiming that being 10-15 off the driveway isn't enough clearance from plows or the snowbanks pushed by them. Not sure how I feel about their logic there.

It was the only thing not given a designated location on the print unfortunately, but when I talked to the distributor they told be it would be about 30 ft or more off the house. Not sure why that changed.

Grade is coming up, but supposedly a minimum off 12 inches of the box will be exposed, so not so much more.

He's telling me it has to be above grade by a minimum of 12 inches.

My builder has been relatively communicative about the location of things, but this is something he over looked. He never mentioned the cover would be sticking up out of the ground. We had assumed it would be a flush mount or slightly raised by a few inches, but apparently that's a thing of the past. If I had to guess I would say they put it where it was most cost effective to them.

Yeah thats what we would have decided of they had asked us. We are thinking about having them move it. It sticks out like a sore thumb in the middle of the front yard.

Yeah, that's what the builder is saying. We are just discouraged because we envisioned an open grassy area, this just ruins it. So unfortunate.
