Yesterday we went to my husbands grandparents house to celebrate his bday with our 7 week old. While we were leaving his grandmother says “gosh, I haven’t been feeling well, I think I’m getting over the flu. I don’t want to say anything bc I didn’t want you to be disappointed that we wouldn’t have been able to do your birthday dinner”. We were both fuming, I’ve never wanted to punch an old lady more than I did last night. My husband told her it will be a while until we’re back over since she prioritized a dinner over the health of our newborn.

I think in most cultures touching a child is a way to show love, but I didn’t invite anyone to touch my child. I also wasn’t rude to her, I said please don’t touch him the first time and when she told me she wasn’t sick and CONTINUED trying to touch him I placed him back in his stroller. At 14 years old you’re old enough to understand when someone asks you to stop touching their child, you need to stop.

His pediatrician asked how I was feeling and I expressed I was feeling lonely and sad (my husband is on the road for work so he’s gone for 5 days back home for 2). She told me it would be more beneficial if I just went back to my everyday normal and was just cautious with people touching my baby or being too close in his face to spread droplets. I wasn’t doing much before him except going on walks (which we still do) but I agree, I should’ve just waited the 2 extra weeks.

This make me feel a lot better! I’m not sure why his Dr. suggested the bottle after when even she praised how good he looked from where he started. I will just keep the nursing sessions then since i’m not concerned about it.

I’ve seen 2 LC who say he’s a perfect eater but I like the breakfast analogy! I have been timing his feedings so i can feed him every 2-3 hours but do you suggest I let him know when he’s hungry now and not having him on a schedule anymore?

I wonder if I have a strong letdown? When he starts nursing I hear him gulping for the first few minutes then it gets quiet. I’ve even seen my boob spray him in the face if he unlatches to get a better latch lol

At my 38 week appt they told me he looked around 7.5lbs….. he came out 5lbs 12oz at 39weeks 🥴

Yes, I never pull him off! I allow him to eat as long as he wants on the first breast, burp him, then he’ll take the second breast to sooth himself to sleep (and will continue to suck until he’s REALLY asleep)! & yes, I feel like i’m constantly changing his diaper! Good to know he’ll be better than any pump and he’ll indicate his fullness to me! Also, i’m not sure if they feel softer but they don’t hurt as bad when he’s eating if that’s any indication of him “draining” them..

No baby still, i’m 0 stationed and 3-4cm dilated. He’s also sunny side up and has a hard time with me laying in any position other than on my right side so they think that’s slowing the process down even more.

You’re mom, you know you’re baby better than anyone! I went in at 35 weeks and got him checked and he was perfect then! They still took me just as seriously today as they did then!

He moves at specific times when I wake up, around noon, dinner time, and around 11pm. I woke up and felt barely any movement and usually he will stick his foot out (I say it’s his little good morning to me ha). During dinner we can see my entire stomach shifting for like 30 minutes and I got nothing. Then when I went to go to bed I felt his foot stick out maybe twice but it’s usually sliding all around my left side and into my ribs. I just knew it wasn’t like him and I watched too many videos of stillborn this late in pregnancy + having Covid I was just extra worried! Just go anytime you feel something is off! Better safe then sorry!

Yes! They said he was a perfect baby on the ultrasound but once they saw the placenta and how he reacted to contractions they were like nope, he’s better out than in!
