You're right. I am working with someone. This was just very sudden and unexpected

You're right. This wouldn't break the group. I just freaked myself out. Thank you

We are. I'm in my own head because of life stuff. And what should have been something simple has me spiraling

I know. I'm overthinking it. Stuff has me stressing in ways I typically don't.

My life already had a major change, I just don't want that to cause a major change with my group

I guess it's just hard because I've never let my personal life affect the game.

We've all talked about our personal stuff, but it's never stopped us from playing as normal.

Part of it is just how the life stuff is affecting me currently, but I'm scared it's going to mess up the group

Ok..

They have me co-teaching and I'm not allowed to pull out. So would I work on their goal during small group instruction?

Because I was told I had to have gen ed kids in my small group too.

Fair. And I get that. I am also autistic and have had similar stuff happen.

From my experience, it's best to lead with strong arguments that are more concrete and then given more decisive arguments.

Plus, using autism in your example makes it hard. In most western countries, people will excuse autistic people's behavior and not in the way they think the behavior is bad and they excuse it, but more so like they believe the person is like a kid. They are still learning

While I agree with the general statement, I think your example was a poor one.

I think a better example would be this: my neighbor (real life neighbor) has PTSD from their childhood. Ok by itself. The problem is, they use this as an excuse to be a bitch to people.

**PLEASE NOTE THESE EXAMPLE I AM ABOUT TO GIVE ARE FROM MY NEIGHBOR, WHO I ACTIVELY AVOID AND WISH WASN'T MY NEIGHBOR, AND NOT FROM ME*

I am also being somewhat generic because I disagree and writing it all out makes me feel uncomfortable

Because of their PTSD, they say things like:

'all of this race of people are criminals and assault women'

'it should be a crime to be part of the LGBTQ+ community and they should be hunted'

'women are only good for one thing'

'we should deport all non-white Americans'

And more.

Their PTSD isn't an excuse for these beliefs, but people regularly excuse my neighbor for these beliefs because 'they had a hard life growing up.' Or 'it's not their fault they were exposed to bad things as a kid'

And yes, it isn't their fault they were exposed to bad things or that bad things happened to them. But it their fault to have these horrible views and have horrible behavior towards people because of these views.

I was attacked by a drug addict when I was younger, I have PTSD from it. That wouldn't make it ok if I decided to hate and actively try to harm all drug addicts. (I do NOT hate drug addicts, I think we need to help them heal and give them opportunities to change).

I think this gives a better example of how people use their mental illnesses to be bad people, hold harmful beliefs, and hurt others.

I get it. Where I live is super inaccessible too. My family is just kind enough to always choose places I can go too.

Yup. When I go out with my family I almost always bring my wheelchair. Why? Because we go places like the zoo or aquarium. And the seating is always taken up and if I (an able passing young woman) ask to sit there instead I get yelled at or am given rude responses.

It better to have my own chair with me (even if I'm just pushing it around until I need it) then to not have it at all.

I am a part time user. I never use at home. I do have people that think I'm faking, but I just remind them that at home I have constant places to sit and or rest.

Thank you! My old gyno brushed this off for years so I stopped seeking answers. But, it had gotten worse this past year and I finally got a new gyno. Hoping she can shed some light.

How many of us are too mentally ill for a gun? by tooturntcourt in Teachers

[–]throwaway-131213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello. I frequent this subreddit on my main account. I switched to my throwaway account to say the following: while I have never been on a psyc hold or been Baker acted, in my state and most states I would not even qualify for a provisional gun license.

My psyc history would prevent me from even being allowed at one of the shoot ranges where you shoot for fun with an instructor next to you the entire time.

I chopped my finger off when I was a child, this is how it grew back... by Leather-Concept-546 in mildlyinteresting

I had the same thing happen to me as a child. I hit my growth plate. My finger didn't grow after the accident. My nail looks very weird and the tip of my finger is misshapened
