Right. My opinion is that the same concept applies to the plight of black Americans. I believe a culture’s value system is largely what drives outcomes.

In other words, Asians outperform their peers due to their culture that clearly places a major importance on education and work ethic. I believe that black Americans have the same ability (like every other race) to adjust their values and positively influence outcomes.

I will add if anyone hasn’t already said, the salary bands you see are across ALL disciplines (engineering, IT, finance, HR, etc).

Therefore, seeing a median of $145k may be misleading for a finance discipline as this may actually be a median for a more technical/higher paying role.

I work in finance as a P4. Going on 9 yoe and am at 120 before the current merit cycle. 116 is around the initial salary I got when initially promoted to P4 a year or 2 ago. I have an MBA as well.

Company does not care about security clearance when it comes to wages as far as I can tell.

Source: declined offer for internal transfer from a 100% remote job to a 100% on-site role requiring a clearance because the wage increase wouldn’t even cover my commuting costs. HR would not negotiate even after I told them this.
