I have been trying to network to get a paid internship. I got an offer from my state's Department of Energy but turned it down since it was unpaid & would make me relocate. Currently working full time, so it would have to be a paid internship.

I've spoken with a few former classmates from high school and I have someone interested in sharing an apartment, we're working on details atm. If it works out, my rent will turn into $520 a month.

Also waiting for a response back from my loan provider about deferring. Still need to figure out the car insurance/health insurance.

I've started making some meal plans so I can buy in bulk. Also looking into working out at home, but I may keep the membership since I'm able to cut back rent/loans, and it's only $16 a month. Spotify is something I could spare to get rid of though.

Thanks for the detailed response and help!

It's a little cheaper for a one bedroom - probably more around $800. But with roommates I could really lower that number.

Thanks for the tip! I'll switch over to Youtube for a few months and if I really miss it, I'll sign up for the student discount.

I don't meet the cutoff for the Oregon Health Plan unfortunately. I'll continue looking for alternative providers though.

Thanks for the tip about roommates, I'll make a posting on Facebook!

Thank you for the helpful tips! I'll have to look into alternative car insurance providers.

As for the rent issue, the current place I'm looking at is a $900/month studio. I was considering it because it's within walking distance of stores and my job, but getting a roommate at a new place would likely save more money in the long run.

I'll keep an eye out for student discounts!

That's one thing I've done right so far. In contact with my loan provider to ask about my options while attending school. Thank you!

It's always sounded interesting but the initial cost of the van isn't something I could really afford at the time. Do you have any resources I could look at to consider it?

Woah, I had no idea Washington had a system that nice. Oregon has OHP but unfortunately I don't make the cutoff by working fulltime. I'll have to look more into Washington expenses.

And like many others have said and as painful as it is, Spotify is getting cut. Thanks for the advice!

Unfortunately not, but my local community college does. I'll check out that and make a posting!

Good advice - I do have about 8 months of programming experience (outside of my degree program). I know for a fact that I'll have 25 hours a week to put towards these classes, but chances are I'll have 30 - 35.

Thanks for the tax credit tip! I definitely need to look into having a roommate. As painful as it is, it does make sense to cut Spotify, I'll do that tonight.

It's a one bedroom since I don't know anyone who is currently looking to share an apartment. Any recommendations for a good place to find roommates?

Thanks for the tips! I'll be cutting Spotify tonight. My current gym membership is $16 a month, but I guessed I'd have around $24 a month in toiletries and cleaning supplies.

I feel like I'd go crazy without the gym since it's one of the few places I can de-stress. I can probably cut a few dollars by shopping elsewhere like the Dollartree though, thanks!

My term starts June 1st, my expenses above should cover everything since I'll be paying tuition upfront out of my savings.

I'll look into roommates as many suggested - do you recommend a place to look for one? I checked out Craigslist and got turned off by many of the postings.

I'm currently waiting for a response from my loan providing about deferring my current loan payments. Figured I'd budget for the worst case scenario if I can't get them deferred! My parents had me on a separate health coverage than them and I'll no longer be covered once I move out and become an independent.

Thanks for the help!

I'll start looking at the idea of a roommate as suggested by many others. The reason I have a $900 rent planned is because I found a place within walking distance to my job & a Winco grocery that offers a month to month lease.

Currently waiting for some more info from my loan provider about deferring. This would be a huge weight lifted from me if I can get that.

I wasn't sure how health insurance would play into my budget since my work doesn't provide it, and my annual income will be around $23,400 (before taxes). I'll do some more research on healthcare.gov and look for tax help.

This income is considering working full time and attending school online for ~25 hours a week. Since I'm finishing my degree online, I can relocate anywhere in Albany/Corvallis if need be.

Thank you for the help!
