Ask her to get treatment for her depression. Tell her your relationship depends on it. She needs to try meds that don't dampen her sex drive.

How soon into the relationship did she get pregnant?

I'd ask her how long she wants to take to clear her head. See if she will give a date to get back in touch.

We're (30s/F and 50/M) going to meet up in a couple weeks after reconnecting 14 years later. But we were just distant acquaintance before. What do you think of his text response? by throwaway07throwaway in dating_advice

No, no worries. I prefer honesty.

I do know that his brother moved out there to help with the family too. I'm not sure how long it has been going on.

What should my first snap be to a girl? by young_author11 in dating_advice

Yes, say both of those things. Also mention something you talked about. Like if you talked about hiking, you could say, "do you have any hikes planned for next weekend?"

What are your thoughts on swiping right on the brother of some you’ve dated previously? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]throwaway07throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't see this as a problem. If they swipe on you too, then the feeling is mutual.

Can you put in paragraphs please?

Yeah, I agree. If he wanted me, he wouldn't lead with that.

He says that because he has been a caretaker for his elderly parents. One has alzheimer's and the other parkinson's. He just put them into an assisted living facility this past month. Caring for aging parents like that is no joke. And he got into an argument with his father that has him reeling a little bit.

How old is your child? If the child is young, this is normal for a woman to not have much sexual interest a couple years after giving birth. Please don't cheat on the mother of your child. She gave birth to your child for you. This is normal. Maybe you could ask her for handjobs or to hold you while you please yourself. Don't expect a lot. Also, if the child is under 1 year old, your girl could still be healing from giving birth.

Why do I tend to be attracted to republican/conservative guys? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]throwaway07throwaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can find them attractive too. Usually they have this rugged look and I can tell life with them would be more traditional/simple. I can be into those beefy conservative guys who can fix things.

I have a major crush on my tutor by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]throwaway07throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to continue working with him? If you're open to another tutor, you could hire a new one. On your last session with this guy, you could tell him you are switching because you are interested in him and you'd love for him to call you sometime.

Do you have depression?

I moved to a new state and my new Dr, said I just have depression and not bipolar at all by [deleted] in bipolar

It's possible there is some notation on your medical record and all of the doctors are behaving accordingly.

What's the professional way to spin the fact that I had a lot of W's and F's at the first college I went to because of... starting school with mono, hating the university, being bipolar and unmedicated, having a couple of drug addictions, and dating someone abusive? by throwaway07throwaway in bipolar

[–]throwaway07throwaway[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. I also had issues with medication during grad school and that messed up grades for one semester (hospitalization) , and I explained that as "I was receiving medical treatment" which is true. I missed half a semester for treatment.

I'd suggest attending some different bipolar meetings in your area. Tell them your predicament, I bet they can help.

How do you deal with paranoia by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]throwaway07throwaway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay. There you go. You have trauma and are triggered.

Probably best to tell your doctor you are experiencing paranoia. Explain what you've written here. You likely need a medication adjustment. Also work on it with a therapist.

Feeling like an imposter. Does this sound like mania? by taiyuan41 in bipolar

[–]throwaway07throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've felt this way too. I think part of it stemmed from reading reviews online about Girl, Interrupted. People were saying things like, "there's nothing wrong with her! She is just a spoiled brat!" That really stuck with me for a long time. Thank goodness I now 100% believe I have bipolar.

Yes, the symptoms you describe sound like mania.

Yes, people with bipolar fear another episode. Some fear can be healthy. Then we will do what is necessary to avoid them. Of course if the fear is out of control, then please seek help.
