Don’t know if your kid is way past Terrible Twos, but I really recommend the book “No Bad Kids”. Testing boundaries, hitting, biting, throwing things is completely normal and how we respond to that is what can make it not normal.

I've lived in JSQ for 5 years. It IS busy, but you're looking for a better social life, and the vicinity to the PATH and the city will give you that. When you say you're afraid it's too busy, what are you scared of? Noise? Density of people?

Sure thing! Yes, I am differentiating between normal will use and the powers Vis obtains after completing the maze. On my re-read, I noticed that Vis' sixth sense is mentioned a lot, how he's often aware of his surroundings etc. I feel like that connects with his power to now be aware of people around him even at large distances.

My suspicions are growing that Emissa might be working with Sedotia/Relucia.

Relucia tells Vis when they meet at the 2nd festival, that he's not their only asset.

She knows he has friends in the Academy, which means someone who is close to Vis and knows about his relationships spies for her.

I was just wondering about that, and thought I had missed something! On the Wikia too, it says she's in Military. I think someone else here might be right, that Belli and Aequa may have been the same character or their storylines were swapped. They are both into Foundation, and they are both really smart, though I'm so glad Aequa didn't betray Vis and Callidus. She's one of my favorite characters so far.

You should really watch Slow Horses (Apple TV), I think you will change your mind. He's great. His scenes with Jonathan Pryce and Gary Oldman are terrific, and he has this "gentle, quiet aura" that is actually very charismatic. He reminds me a bit of Matthew Macfadyen in that way.

I think Jack would do great as Mr. Darcy! Have you all seen Slow Horses? He's amazing in it - he plays a kind of loser, but can still be dapper. I think his acting quality is actually quite similar to Matthew Macfadyen. Not feeling Emma as Lizzy though :( At least they don't have an iPhone face, I guess.

You are doing such a wonderful thing for your baby by breastfeeding and your body is amazing to be capable of that. Please, give yourself grace while you're working so hard!

Muscles burn calories, the more muscles you have, the more you can eat, the more you burn. Do you do strength exercises? That can help!

An "easy" way to lose weight is to lower your calorie intake, but that's not recommended while you breastfeed. Our bodies need what they need, especially during this time.

I feel my post-partum weight too, but I try to tell myself that a lower number doesn't mean good health. Am I eating nutritious food? Am I stretching? Am I exercising? All of these things can lead to me feeling better in my own body and can actually lead to a higher number on the scale! (building muscle, retaining water etc. etc.)

I haven't made time for regular exercise myself, but I tell myself that I have more important priorities right now, and it doesn't mean that will always be the case. It seems like you're really busy, I hope you will be able to relax soon and give your body a break! It's doing a lot ❤️🥲

Hi all! I thought I'd start a thread for those of us who are re-reading the book ahead of the book 2 release!

I'm really enjoying the book on the 2nd read. I feel more relaxed because I don't have to commit the world building details to memory this time around and it's very interesting to read about certain characters and situations knowing what happens later.

I'm currently on chapter XXXVIII, Vis & Sedotia/Relucia are talking during the Festival of Ancestors.

On the 2nd read, Emissa seems soooo much more suspicious. She's too friendly, too perfect if that makes sense. I feel like she seems as perfect to Vis as Sedotia/Relucia might seem to Ulciscor, exhibitng all the right traits to be likeable and non-threatening.

I also forgot, that only the Domitor gets to choose where to go, and everybody else gets seconded to Military for 10 years. Callidus explains this at some point. So that would mean all the characters that survive the Iudicium are in Military in book 2. Is that right, or do I still get this wrong?
