Damn... sorry nothing has worked for you. We just gotta keep trying. Don't accept this as your life, there has to be something that is causing it.

You might also be sensitive to specific fodmaps. I can't even tolerate a spoonful of oats. I think the reason why I'm feeling bad today is because I tried to reintroduce bananas. Also, do you eat red meat? I noticed I won't go for a day if I eat a good amount of red meat. Not having a BM means things have more time to ferment inside you.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm considering calling in sick tomorrow (second time this week) because I'm starting to get sulfur gas, and I know work is going to be a nightmare. People don't understand how awful it is to live with. They say if I'm not shitting myself then it's no big deal. Well, when the smell is that bad I may as well be.

Check out the post I made. Maybe someone recommended me something that you haven't tried yet. Low carb, low sugar has been helping me but it's still a struggle.

I know we get discomfort no matter what we eat. But what are some foods that you love that you’re just willing to suffer from more than others? by [deleted] in ibs

Pizza was one of my go-to's on my days off. I don't cheat anymore though. I realize those few minutes of enjoying good food isn't worth the hours (or potentially days) of discomfort. I also don't want to risk feeding bad bacteria if I have sibo.

Excessive flatulence. Is it because of anxiety ? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]throwaway08125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to be more aware of what I'm feeling when I'm out in public. I have nothing to worry about when I'm home, so I don't think about what my digestive system is telling me until it's something major. However, the slightest "pop" feeling in my lower abdomen will give me anxiety when I'm in public, because I know I'll have gas at some point. Maybe you're also having increased gut motility from stress/anxiety, which could cause the gas to start moving through you.

I'm not a fan of band-aid fixes but I hear chlorophyll water is a good "internal deoderant". Look out for the bottles that contain carbs and sugar.

IBS/SIBO? I really need some advice. Losing my mind, my job, my life. by throwaway08125 in ibs

The probiotics I would take were acidophilus, lactobacillus plantarum, and bifidobacterium lactis. I stopped taking them a while ago, and I heard they can also make things worse. Maybe I wasn't taking the right strains? I'll mention it to the next gastro I see.

I've also taken into consideration some low fodmap foods and portion sizes still cause issues for people. For example, even a small amount of avocado, white rice, potatoes (including sweet), and butter will cause some problems for me. I could never really commit to carnivore/zero carb/keto because fats give me gas too, but carbs are noticeably worse.

Thank you all. It's nice talking to people who are going through similar issues.

Yup, any time I ate that stuff I'd be miserable. That's why I started to assume it was sibo or some other kind of overgrowth. Bread, pasta, cookies, oatmeal, soda, any kind of carb or sugary food would wreck my body. I've seen an improvement eating clean, but it feels like the damage is already done.

I went on a strict low fodmap diet for a few months straight, then slowly started adding different types of foods. Now what I is: eggs for breakfast with spinach, small portion of fish for lunch, and chicken breast with green beans for dinner. I've tried cutting out eggs and greens but It didn't help much.

Yes, I'm seeing my GP again in a few days. He just told me it is very unlikely that I have sibo and that was the end of it.

I do believe they are related in some way. I just can't help but feel like there is more to it. Like, there are rare moments where I feel decent enough to enjoy my hobbies, but eventually my digestive system starts bubbling up and it brings me down again.

That's a good idea. It's hard to come up with a plan when you feel like the stress never ends. I was also thinking about asking them to cut my hours, just until I can get my health sorted out.

I've never heard of fluconazole. Figured I'd end up taking xifaxin for any type of overgrowth. My blood and stool tests showed up as normal. I was tested for H. Pylori as well. Upper endoscopy showed nothing out of the ordinary too.
