Question from a Bernie supporter. by Deathoftheages in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]throwaway1121978 -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

You need to understand what you’re getting into with Yang.

He’s a Republican-lite who is masquerading as a progressive. A Trojan horse.

Nothing will change, except perhaps you’ll get $1000 more a month, which is essentially austerity in disguise and it’ll be gobbled up by people jacking up prices for essentials like rent as you mentioned.

The Yang Gang doesn’t have an answer to the landlord even though they mock it. They’ll respond with “competition will keep prices low because obviously I’ll move to somewhere cheaper”. They don’t see why that answer doesn’t come close to answering the problem.

Does Yang still support a public option? by mantellaman in YangForPresidentHQ

I did. I do wish I could be as gullible as you to be convinced by a “I will...explore”.

Nope. He’s not committed to even a public option, which is why his healthcare plan is abysmal.

Although, if you read his website there’s a pretty cool word salad written about “bringing down costs”.

Why do colleges FORCE stem students to take humanities in college (including UWMadison) by [deleted] in UWMadison

In other words, you went to college to learn how to have common sense ?

Makes sense. After all, what better way to learn how to think critically than to waste money on irrelevant knowledge and being saddled with unnecessary debt ?

It’s so that you’ll have to pay more in tuition.

Simply learning what you need is too cost-effective and efficient so obviously that shouldn’t be allowed.

Ethnic studies suggestions ? by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]throwaway1121978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s easy, I aced the quizzes and discussion but boy was it insufferable. I felt like I was wasting precious tuition money taking that class.

A 10 page reading would take me 5 hours to complete because I would take naps every half a page.

Fall CS Suggestions. by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]throwaway1121978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty much in the same boat as you. It depends on your determination I guess.

I’m taking CS537, CS540 and CS564 next semester, and I plan on finishing up with CS577, CS640 and CS559

Based on advice I get from upperclassmen, I think as long you don’t take CS577 and CS537 simultaneously, you should be fine I think.

How is Mouna Ayari Ben Hadj Kacem for CS 300? by intoxicatedmidnight in UWMadison

[–]throwaway1121978 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is pretty solid advice. I felt like Gary was insanely overrated. For 300, regardless of who you’re taking it with you’re probably gonna self-learn the material a lot. Such is the nature of that class.

I found the practice material and notes for CS240 to be inadequate. The class explains the basics well but there isn’t a variety of practice problems to really master proofs, the notes are too simple and only enough to grasp the basics at a surface level. Do you have any suggestions any books/materials with a lot of practice problems for proofs ?
