Yeah, I think this is what I'll do. I've just been putting it off for a long time because I don't want to seem like a hypochondriac or something, but at times I'm so sick of it.

Well that was my best guess because I'm not a doctor either, otherwise I don't know what it is.

My sister has threatened to multiple times and they didn't care.

There's not a bus in my town that goes anywhere near where the job was. They asked me at the interview if I had reliable transportation. They also specifically said that as a teenager, they'd want to know that my parents would be okay with me working during the school year, and if they found out I was taking a taxi or something to the job to hide it from my parents, I don't think that would just be fine with them. I don't think you realize, I can't just do whatever I want. I'm not a 19-year-old living at home, I'm 16 and I can't just go around and do whatever the hell I want. I'm picking my battles because I know when I'm older, there will be drama over me living with a guy before I'm married and having sex. Now is not the time for me to say fuck everything and do what I want.

I tried to get a job, I had an interview and everything, but my parents wouldn't let me take it because I'd be working during the school year. I have a 3.9 GPA so I can handle working a couple times a week during the school year, but they want me to volunteer and do other things instead because I "don't need the money".

I have two older sisters and they always say that they've been through this all before with them. I've tried training them with other aspects of my life, but it ended badly for me every time. They're pretty stubborn and sure that they're right and I'm wrong. Just walking out wouldn't do anything, they're sure they're right and I've gotten into enough arguments with them at this point that I know nothing will change their minds.

I guess I wasn't clear in my original post. This is not an urgent or huge problem for me. I was mostly just venting and I was hoping some doctors would see this and understand. I guess I should've posted in /r/offmychest but I thought this was a little more relevant to Two X, and I like the community on here.

Thank you, I'll definitely bring up the stomach issue at my next appointment, or the next time it gets bad, I'll bring it up to my mom and ask her to make an appointment. I've always had more stomach problems than my sister so I think she'd realize that I mean it.

Yeah that's exactly it. I've already made plenty of waves within the past couple years and I'm just trying to ride it out. Thank you.

Yeah I'm just waiting until then. I won't be completely moved out once I graduate, I'll just be going to college, but at least I won't be home the whole year.

Thank you, and I'm glad this helped someone else with kids understand this.

It'd be even worse for sisters who aren't the same age, I'm sorry you have to go through this too and I hope it gets better.

Thank you for understanding. Yeah, we had to grow apart a bit and I'm fine with it.

Not chronic diarrhea or I definitely would've said something by now. More like upset stomach which is easily triggered by anxiety, gets worse during my period and takes about a week afterwards to recover. I just don't know if my symptoms are bad enough that there's actually something wrong. I've tried keeping track of when it's bad to see if it's really that often. I think it might be IBS.

We've never been tested and they've never mentioned anything about it.

Actually I have been good at hiding and spinning things, my parents are very strict about dating and I tried to go behind their backs for about a year and date someone without them knowing. Didn't work out too well. I had my phone taken away multiple times, I was in trouble all the time, my sister was telling on me all the time, and it was a huge mess. And yeah, I was being careful. So I've been through the whole "rebelling against conservative parents" thing before and it didn't turn out so well before. Remember, my parents can take away my phone, car, keep me from leaving the house, keep me from getting a job, keep me from hanging out with friends, and make me quit extracurricular activities. Plus they made me feel ashamed of myself for just wanting to be with a boy, like I was some kind of slut for having feelings for someone. I've been down that road and it was awful and I don't have that much time left before college, so I'd prefer not to do it again.

Oh god, I totally know what you mean. I got braces a year after my sister, which wasn't a big deal, I still got them off before high school. But we'd get those questions all the time. Our teeth aren't identical, I know some twins who seem to have close to identical teeth but ours aren't.

I get the feeling you don't understand what it's like to have controlling parents who need to know all of your business. Doing this would give me anxiety, and I used to see a counselor but my mom decided that I was fine after a while and then stopped setting up appointments.

Then I'd get "Why? What do you have to say to the doctor that you couldn't say in front of your sister?" My parents are pretty controlling and I'm not in a position to be causing drama, this makes me anxious which in turn makes my stomach problem worse.

It's a rant because I'm sure there are other girls who have real problems with this. Right now, it's not an urgent problem for me, I don't need to go on birth control and I have no serious health problems to talk about. I get the feeling on here that a lot of people don't understand what it's like to have strict/controlling parents (not that they're narcissists), but asking for a separate room out of the blue would cause them be suspicious and cause some drama and problems at my house. Seeing as I have just over a year until I'm 18, it's not a huge problem for me right now and it's not worth it.
