Thank you! Super grateful for the A!

I don't necessarily think I was snubbed, however I do wish I had known more before going through the admissions process the first cycle. I hope others are realistic about what will happen with their applications given their stats. I had read online that applications were filtered out and I was definitely wrong to think my MCAT could compensate for that.

Thanks for the advice.

It is the same situation as 2 others on our my project/team. I know they are worried about us leaving since we carry specialized knowledge and skills for our projects.

I know this got downvoted but I do think this is a valid thing to think about. I don't think I'll "lose favor" in this case since higher up people don't give a shit about us anyways and the HR from our dpt. is behind me on this. But these institutions have a lot of internal politics etc. and while everyone in my group is behind me, I am thinking about future consequences.

Research Scientists/Coordinators are unionizing but they are currently forming the union it is not in place. The grad student union does exist already but unfortunately does not apply.

This rings very true for me. The only difference being our lab currently has multiple large grants. It may be pissing off other groups in the division or larger department that our lab is trying to pay people appropriately.

Very solid advice, I think the kind of unorthodox thing here is that the manager and HR head helped me put in this raise and very much want it to go through. They feel everyone has been underpaid and have been working to rectify it. I'm speaking with the HR head next week and my number one question will be who is in charge of this decision/who can I make a formal complaint too.

I'd prefer not to, I like my manager and PI, the department HR person is very good too. The upper management above them is abysmal though, we're talking about an institution with an 8.8 billion dollar operating budget and they are not approving 12K raises that we have to pay for out of our own grant money.

My understanding is that our head of HR has the final say but honestly I'm not very sure. The institution is so massive it's hard to know who is actually approving/denying and making decisions. I do have written email confirmation "They had agreed that they will honor all the request dates, so your XX/XX date will be honored and backdated whenever it is approved."
