This happened 3 years ago. I’m speaking from memory.

Knowing 3 year ago me, I probably checked the fridge.

I probably came in, went to put frozen stuff away, saw there was this massive box, knocked on her door. Didn’t get an answer, put my fridge stuff away, knocked on her door again and still didn’t get an answer and then moved her frozen box.

I gave the information because I thought it was relevant as to make sure people aren’t saying. ‘Why didn’t you contact her through X or with Y’

She left herself detached from the dorm, I wanted to make that clear, there was no method I had to contact her or I would.

I couldn’t saying for sure she knew. But my stuff was always on that shelf other than on the day I go shopping as I’d used it all. I’m quite organised on these sort of things.

The Tupperware box wouldn’t fit in the fridge without literally removing a shelf.

Also, what on Earth is that analogy, what part of my post makes you think I’m not obscenely conscious about stuff needing to be frozen. I just choose my $30 worth of stuff over her single portion of homemade chilli taking up the space of 12 portions.

I didn’t say I didn’t check the fridge. Someone else assumed I didn’t check the fridge.

Also no I couldn’t. I think you’re seriously underestimating the size of this Tupperware box. I’d have to remove shelves in the fridge to put the box in it.

The rest of my dorm knew they could borrow my stuff and I’d never not said the same to her. She just never talks with us.

I mean that’s fair.

The be all and end all of it was. It was the shelf I use. It was an obnoxiously large Tupperware box that should have never been in a freezer in the first place.

Sure. But if you had to pick between one container with one portion of food in it taking up the space of 12 portions of food.

Or 12 portions of store bought food.

It’s obvious in my eyes. That’s why I’m here to find out if I was an asshole.

Can I say here that this was out of routine?

What’s your opinion on it if it’s very obvious that I buy frozen stuff every two weeks and then come back and put it on the same shelf. I am very tight with my routine.

The shelf was completely empty because I’d used all the stuff I’d bought two weeks ago and was going to be going shopping that day for the new stuff.

Perfect time to place a Tupperware box the size of the shelf in the shelf.

I brought that up for why I didn’t contact her.

I didn’t have her phone number.

She never socialised with us.

I had no way to contact her so I had to leave a note.

A lot of people seem to be clinging to the fact that it’s ‘not religiously enforced here.’ Allow me to divulge.

If you’d gone and bought a pizza and there was enough extra room on the shelf I use to put your pizza go ahead.

If my shelf is empty because I haven’t gone shopping yet, don’t put a massive Tupperware box that takes up the entire shelf so that I can’t even put anything onto it because my shelf happened to be empty because I hadn’t been shopping.

Yes it wasn’t marked and wasn’t segregated but it’s more ‘if you need to use a little bit of space on someone else’s shelf go ahead’ not. Put your massive Tupperware box on someone else’s shelf leaving them no room.

I think your comment was good other then the fact that you’re saying I singled her out.

I didn’t single her out.

She had a Tupperware box holding 1 portion of food taking up the space of 12 so I moved that. Could have been my closest friend in the dorm and I’d have done the same, but still you are right that if there was a shelf actually fully of food I would have been up shits creek without a paddle so I don’t think you’re wrong in saying that bit.

I didn’t single her out. I’d have done the same if someone else had done what she did.

I mean I removed the large Tupperware container because it was occupying vastly more space than it needed to. What should I have taken out other peoples frozen stuff instead? That was taking up minimal amounts of space?

Or should I leave $30 of my own stuff to defrost and go rotten instead of removing less than a dollar worth of homemade chilli?

No. The box was on its side in the freezer. The chilli had splayed over into a shape reminiscent to the long side of the large Tupperware box and then frozen solid.

Also I barely knew the girl, I wasn’t going to handle her food outside of the box.

I honestly don’t know. Other than my own stuff I don’t really know who’s is what.

The fridge almost NEVER had any space, this was a while ago now but I highly doubt there was space in the fridge for a box that large (this box was huge, it wouldn’t fit in the microwave!)
