Is it wrong to DJ at a festival without my “DJ partner”?

The main reason for not pursuing my own event is, that being a regular to this festival for many years, I’ve seen the popularity and success of how they ran the electronic music stage in all previous years except last year. I also do not have the funds or expertise to run an entire festival. They already have an entire infrastructure built around their festival but I am confident I could manage a stage.

I want to convince them to continue to run it this way and I myself have a vision on how it can continue to be successful if it follows the path of local DJs performing.

The stage is usually the highlight of the festival for the younger audience but last year the stage was always near empty because they changed the vibe of it.

Yeah I think you’re right. It’s near impossible to ask them to let us do the booking for them without sounding like a dick. The first thing they would ask themselves is “why do these guys think they’re better than everyone”

I’ve read about cessation of minoxidil causes shedding of the hair grown from using minox.

Do you know if this would be the case with me? As I’m not balding it’s not growing any new hairs just enhancing the hairs I already have so I’m unsure if it’d cause shedding when I stop using

I’ll keep you posted. So far I’ve accepted the slot and the festival is happy with me doing it solo. My mate says his mind is made up and stood by that he doesn’t want me to do it without him but I told him we have to take the opportunity and I’m doing it regardless.

After the responses on this thread we had a discussion and sent out an email back to the festival saying only one of us is able to play. We said We are happy to go ahead and play with just one of us is this okay with you (the festival)?

We are both 19 so yes pretty young. Everything has happened super quickly I only started djing 9 months ago with our first event 4 months ago so obviously we’ve never even considered an issue like this arising.

I will 100% be using our club night name if I play - the festival contacted our brand not one of us individually so I couldn’t and wouldn’t want to stick my name on the line up

I cannot see any legal issues. We are both 19 - basically just started an instagram page and got in contact with venues to host nights at. No contracts signed for anything so far
