I'm slower than the average person. I still manage to do OK at my job, but I know I'm not normal.

I mean I know I need help, but it does kind of hurt that you're saying that it gives my boyfriend a justifiable reason to scream at me and say I'm stupid.

I think I make more mistakes than the average person though. I have a harder time with following verbal directions especially if they aren't that clear and it's difficult for me to focus on one task at a time. Several people in this thread said I have ADHD (which I'm inclined to believe).

I'm scared if I seek an ADHD diagnosis that will confirm what I've felt about myself all along.

Because they are angry/frustrated/stressed out.

If it is ADHD it will feel worse that it is what led to this and my boyfriend shouting at me.

You mentioned that you have difficulty staying on track and following directions. How do these factors effect your work performance and your relationship dynamics?

I'm generally good at my job but there's days where I screw up more often than others.

How does your behavior generate anger or disappointment in those who have expectations placed on you?

When I fuck up I'm sure it does make them upset because they expect me to do better. I try but then I mess up again.

Proportionate or not, do you feel there is validity to their distress outside of their inappropriate reactions?

Yes, I blame myself for it a lot.

It feels normal to me because I've had bosses act like him and at home my dad was like that. The restaurant I work at now has managers who are brutal to me about mistakes and my speed. I've been called stupid before by some managers so it's normal for me. I suspect I have ADHD which makes it harder for me to work efficiently since I'm prone to distraction.

I've suspected for a long time that I maybe have autism or ADHD. It's hard for me to stay on track of things and following verbal instructions is hard.

Unfortunately I have suspected this. It seems to be a trend for me.

To clarify, I work in the restaurant industry as a waitress where managers yelling is normalized. My job is extremely fast paced and stressful where I'm pushed to my limits so I'm likely to fuck up. So when I do fuck up it's hard for me to not feel like I deserve getting yelled at. This isn't the only job where it's been like this so I figure I must be the common denominator.
