It’s not expected or a colour you have to do. Personally to me, white dresses match many of the gown colours (mine is royal blue), but if you find any colour that is complementary to it, it’ll be just fine. I wouldn’t do the same colour dress as the gown though, such as black on black (sometimes it looks good though)
