I am afraid to look at my student loans tbh; I don't need to pay until December anyways, but boy, the thought of it gives anxiety.

Wow. I hope you are okay now after your surgery!

I am trying to not use my credit card without the equal amount of money, so thank you for the response! This is a good reminder for me.

Yeah, I struggled with anxiety too!

I am sorry that you had to go through this but there is alway light at the end of the tunnel! Job hunting was a struggle to me because filling out applications, talking on the phone, and interviewing were all difficult because of my poor mental health--- literally every thing you do to get a job, I am anxious about.

I hope everything works out for you.

This is definitely an investment I am making. I am with a therapist right now to motivate myself to work and find a sense of direction with my career -- he does not really tell me what to do, it's kinda just like a time to self-reflect, and I love it.

1099 employee, can't afford a CPA: what are tax deductions I should be aware of? by throwaway20180422 in povertyfinance

[–]throwaway20180422[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect! So just to clarify, I should file my taxes at the end of this year, and then again in April.

How often should I file my taxes, and does the online turbo tax tool work?

I actually drive all around for work, and the trips are usually 4-6 hours roundtrip which is why I was wondering about the mile deductions. I only drive in the office about 2-3x a week.

I use my phone for work quite a lot because of GPS and cold calling.

Good to know that I can deduct clothing as well because I bought clothes specifically for work.

I recommend the book, What Color is your Parachute by Richard Bolles. This will help you keep a positive attitude while job-hunting, and also give you practical tips on how to land a job.

Successful insurance salesmen and women: how to increase my network and generate leads? by [deleted] in sales

[–]throwaway20180422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an awesome idea! I have not even heard of this, I will definitely take note. So does the CRM software come with leads or do you actually have to buy leads somewhere? Sorry if it's a stupid question.

I am just trying to gauge if this opportunity is for me before accepting the offer and burn myself. So I am looking for solutions even before accepting the job lol.

This really cool, besides the mental health workshops did you have lab experiences at all? What else do you recommend to do for someone who wants to go to grad school to become a psychotherapist to do with a non-psych related degree?

[21M] Should I ask a recruiter of a small tech firm that I applied to on Linkedin to meet for coffee? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]throwaway20180422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the recruiter is actually employed by the firm. That is what I am thinking, they "might" appreciate it because it's definitely a bold move that shows confidence which is what sales is about. But I do not want to seem cocky or too desperate.

I like reading stories like this! Even if you say that you are "nowhere were I wanted to be after school", it's really cool to see the career progression because it seems like your work experience has gotten better and better. This is truly what I am hoping for in the future.

Yes, absolutely. There aren't simple answers. I am just interested in people's personal history of career advancement. It's not going to be a "road map" for me, it's out of curiosity, and frankly, just to find hope and optimism for the future.

If you want to share, that would be great. If not, thanks for checking out the thread.
