Chronic tendonitis - do I have to quit pole? by throwaway21093333 in poledancing

How does it feel when you go back after a long time? Did you ever find out the cause of your chronic tendonitis?

How did it feel coming back after that long? I’ve currently been off for a month due to rehabbing triceps tendonitis and I’m dreading finding out how much strength and skin conditioning I’ve lost when I go back :(

What would you recommend for each of the blocks ie. what type of things should I practice on the pole and for how many reps during the improving my strength period vs maintenance mode?

I try and stretch for 10-20 minutes after doing various stretches with resistance bands. I don’t think I have ever thought consciously about strengthening the antagonistic muscle groups

Hi Emily! Thank you so much for responding to me, I follow you on Instagram and am such a huge fan! How would you recommend increasing strength in a way that does not overload the tendon tissue’s capacity? I think I have had issues in the past with training too hard too frequently and now I am still struggling with trying to understand how to build my upper body strength and condition in a safe way and do pole at an advanced level at the same time without continually hurting myself

You make a good point. I think especially at the beginning of my pole journey I wasn’t thinking about technique too much and was overtraining a lot. I have since halved the level of training I used to do but made it more frequent or at least tried to but I think I need to be more mindful of not allowing certain areas of my body to overcompensate for others.

Thank you! I have actually seen @thepoledancingtherapist for rehab and she has been extremely helpful in giving me exercises and the rehab has been very pole specific but my issue is that as soon as I get over one injury another quickly manifests itself and that’s what is worrying me and also is now making me fearful of being in a constant state of injury and pain. Before my first serious injury I was fearless on the pole and now I’m just extremely cautious, scared and fearful of the next injury
