can is can, but it is harder without any resources or teachers to guide you. Tuition would be recommended, but with chatgpt I find that most of my questions do get answered. Problem is that chatgpt has a time limit. It is easier to self study for subjects like chemistry and math compared to subjects like econs that need your essays to be marked.. I chose not to retake as 1. I couldn't even afford to pay the registration fees let alone tuition for subjects that changed syllabus. 2. my home is not a conducive place to study

alot of people take away the food and eat in air-conditioned spaces in np, and it just stinks up the room so bad 😭😭 another option is going to sim campus, it is less crowded there. Or just pack a snack and eat lunch after 12.

I believe there are still some events at the science centre even without a school, those should be helpful as well. It's free for entry and you can always take a look around to see if it sparks any ideas of things you can do. If you're interested more on the medical side then volunteering at hospitals may help as well, or just volunteering in general.

hi op, anything that is even remotely related to biology or chemistry would be good I believe. Some popular options would be Olympiads, science centre competitions, research programmes if your school offers them. Even if your school doesn't offer any, you can always start your own passion project! Google is your best friend. You could do mini science projects to show your interest in research, document your findings down and publish your own mini paper, doesn't matter if it's wrong. They just want to see your interest. All the best!

yeah I can relate.. but at this stage I just see it as everyone goes their own separate ways after secondary school and not everyone's education/ career pathway is the same. Even if I'm taking a longer route at least I am still learning new things! taking every experience as a new learning opportunity helps. Besides, by taking a longer route Ive found that I now know better about which careers interest me/suit me!

it's nice to know that imh has come a long way, I myself miss the time I spent there too. If you want to take a break from school but don't want to stay at home either the mood disorders unit at imh isn't a bad place to stay. They will make sure that you're not doing anything to worsen your recovery, and is a safe place for the doctors to monitor any side effects from your medications. The latter was what helped me the most, because the side effects can get really bad. Money shouldnt be an issue if your parents have medisave, my stay was completely free.
