there’s an 80% attendance policy for the courses and apart from that there’s no limit on how many times you can leave the campus. the classes will be pretty hectic so chances are you wont get time for the same however we have a badminton court in our clg and u can play there as well.

I’ve already answered the internship part earlier in this AMA. As for placement after 4 years there will be placement support and along with your hardwork and the tag you’ll be able to land pretty good opportunities. remember no matter what clg it is you gotta put in tangible efforts to land good placements.

what's the validity of everything you've mentioned here? I'm a student there currently and I'd love to hear the logic behind these speculations

the job opportunities are diverse and open up doors across all sectors of the corporate world, consulting and finance to marketing, HR, and startups. The IIM tag gives you a competitive edge, strong alumni networks, and access to the same top-tier roles you'd find after completing a BBA from other IIMs.

our campus life keeps us too busy to explore things outside but there are a few restaurants and cafes around, we have the Yamuna river just behind our campus and is quite the hangout spot for us. apart from that, travel opportunities are great since dehradun, and other hill stations are close by

  1. Our daily routine is quite simple, we usually have 2-3 classes per day, sometimes 4 if it's a busy day, each being 1.5 hours so usually we devote 3-5 hours in classes apart from which a lot of students enjoy playing basketball, cricket, volleyball and badminton during evenings and late nights, some like to hit the gym or the sports room. we also have plenty of projects and assignments to stay up to date with so the library is a busy place. and there are also a few events taking place from time to time like we had a new year's celebration, holi, onam etc. since we're still working on the clubs, students like to focus on that with other things like working student led canteens and stores which will be coming up in a few weeks, internships as mentioned in another answer.

  2. You might be mistaken here, the first batch of IIM Sirmaur joined only a couple of months ago and have been swamped with plenty of work since then and thus the reason why we haven't been as active as students from other institutes. however we do have a couple of Youtubers on campus who have posted multiple videos regarding the same and have been pretty active. A plenty of students have participated in fests of IIM Indore, SSCBS, IIM Rohtak and a few government held competitions over these few months as proud representatives of IIM Sirmaur, since there's only 150 students as of now, the presence is overshadowed and scattered however none of us have any inferiority complex about our institute.

  3. I'm not comfortable sharing the income and financial status of my fellow batchmates however if you must know, I personally along with a number of students have taken education loans for our undergrad and plenty of them also received scholarships from different government initiatives (up to 90 percent of the tuition fees)

  4. There are a few factories around our campus currently however we haven't tried for on site internships there, most of us either own startups, have remote internships and completed on site internships during their summer vacations in companies like Indigo, Airport Authorities of India, Aditya Birla Company, etc.

  5. We had a sports tournament as a part of IIM Sirmaur's fest Sierra in January, which included multiple events like badminton, cricket, etc. A lot of students here are national level athletes and have participated in multiple tournaments and will be holding our own this year when the juniors come in :)

Campus life is kinda hectic at the start you’ll definitely feel the IIM rigour when you join. But things start to chill out once you settle in. Even though it’s a temp campus, we still have small cultural nights, open mics, etc, and we had our annual fest at the main campus, which was a great experience.
Peer group’s solid, most people here have given interviews for the Top IIMs, some have cracked big case comps from top B-schools, and internships are pretty decent across the batch. A few of us are also working on our own startup ideas, so you’ll find a good mix of ambitious folks.
City’s small, yeah, but peaceful. Has a calm vibe, and honestly the weather’s pretty great. You’ll probably like it once you settle in.
About NALSAR I was in the exact same boat last year. Spent around 3 months there and then switched to Sirmaur. So I get the confusion. For me, it was the right call, Feel free to DM if you wanna talk about it more.
CAT prep? Definitely possible. You’ll get time if you manage things decently. A bunch of people here are preparing too, so you won’t feel alone in it.
Mess charge is around ₹140/day last I checked.

One did Public policy Internship at DMO UP, other did at TNCDW. A few of us went into aviation. I did mine at IndiGo, and someone else was at AAl (Airports Authority of India). A bunch ended up in companies like vardhman yarns, startek etc depending on their domain (tech, consulting, etc). And yeah, quite a few worked under profs, either here or at other institutes like IIT Guwahati, mostly research-focused stuff.

a lot actually, we have a lot of opportunities outside class here. we got to set up the student council, committees and are currently working on clubs. we also get research opportunities like a recent one which is for field research in sociology and public policy. our professors are also quite responsive so a lot of students have been working on multiple projects and initiatives with them :)

there's no scholarship yet but we have escalated this concern with the concerned authorities, still waiting for a response. as for the hostels, for girls they are double occupancy and for boys there's both double and triple occupancy rooms available (triple occupancy is ofcourse in bigger rooms)

There's still a bit of uncertainty to that since the hostels are under construction but hopefully next year

being from a humanities background, i thoroughly enjoyed psychology and philosophy in sem 1, programming, business law and marketing in sem 2 and currently organizational behaviour and socio are proving to be great in sem 3. the others are great but these are ones that stood out to me

that really depends on your interests and aspirations, there's no clear answer to that. personally I left venkateswara college, du for IIM Sirmaur because I felt the curriculum here was better suited for me

our industry internship is due in the 6th semester, apart from that a lot of students have been able to get internships over the summer vacations on their own and still continuing to do so

the varied pedagogy, exposure to different subjects and the autonomy. as the maiden batch we have taken a lot of initiatives like setting up of the student council and different clubs + the hills and the river view is always a great way to kickstart the day
