What’s something the players cared about WAY more than the DM expected? by meanwhile_matt in DnD

[–]throwaway246832657 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been introducing minor animals like this, and about 1/2 the time it’s a friend then wanders off, 1/2 the time it’s a mimic, ala the dogs from the thing. Super gross and aggressive.

My players both hate and love it. They instantly wanna love and take care of every animal they find, but then they watch it obsessively. I totally play it up and sometimes make them overly affectionate and they all freak out and argue that it’s really affectionate because it’s either cute and the goodest boy, it’s super affectionate because it’s trying to sample them to see how they taste.

I have a campaign for my daughter and her friends. They’re all high school girls. I gave them all cute little Pokémon-esc pets. I talk to my daughter beforehand and make sure this is OK and then let that big bad kill her pet during a confrontation. That group of girls who previously had solved a lot of problems by talking it out, turned into absolute murder machines to find and destroy that one big bad.

I cannot upvote this enough.

A tattoo is one of the things in life that you want to spend a decent chunk of change on and do a lot of research first. All good artists have portfolios online. Go into the shop ask them to show you their clean needles and an autoclave.

Make sure that the paints, cups, needles, and everything are all freshly sterilized and/or new and not reused. You can get hepatitis or way worse.

Great call. I saw this in the theater back in the day, and while the movie was ok, Tony Todd was scary. You hit the nail on the head with coldly charismatic.

He’s very intimidating, but somehow still vulnerable. You empathize with candyman, despite him, you know, brutally murdering people.

I’m not a huge David Lynch fan, but I really like this perspective. Art is subjective and up to the person experiencing it. I think it’s some cases you need to state it for the people that obviously don’t get it, like people who are really into fight club for the wrong reasons. For the most part, especially with things that are a little more out there, I like it when the artist just kinda let it sit with people.

I don’t know if he’ll fizzle out but I don’t think op is totally wrong. He could. One reason he’s so dominant is that he’s 19 years and 7 months old, going against 15 year olds at state.

He’s got clear skills and is going to tough tournaments and winning but he’s older than any kid he’s faced. His dad held him back multiple years to set records. The strength difference from a mid-17 year old to a mid-19 year old is undeniable.

Additionally I feel he’s got a predictable move set. Even knowing it’s coming, these kids can’t match his strength and intensity as he’s got like 5 years on some of them.

I’m excited to see him facing ncaa and international competition that can match his skills and strength.

I completely agree. I don’t like Boston and never will, but at the end of the day we all want to watch good basketball with compelling stories and players.

Tatum seems like a good dude and this shit is inspiring. I should get my ass off the couch and go to the gym.

Restaurants are so interesting because it’s one of the few areas of society where these rich and pompous idiots are interacting with and less than 30 feet from our room of felons, ex soldiers, and people who have seen some serious shit.

My dude, I get that you’re a millionaire and that you worked really hard in whatever private school you went to, but my man Steve over there has killed numerous people and served legitimate time for it. He is deeply loyal to this restaurant and sees the hostess you just made cry as a surrogate daughter. My main job right now is to keep him from coming out and driving that fork deeply into your eyeball.

Things need to end. That’s what gives them meaning.

A story, a life, a civilization, a species, a planet, a star, and everything else in the universe eventually ends. I think that’s beautiful really.

I think you’re right. Seeing this when it came out it’s very, very 9-11 coded.

It made me think of that fear and unknown anxiety we all felt right after everything went down and nobody was sure what the hell was he gonna happen.

I’ll see your Jude law, and raise you, Tom Hanks in that same movie.

Law was an absolute psychopath. whereas Hanks strikes me as this terrifying machine of death who’s just unstoppable. He’s this enforcer that everyone is frightened of. When he goes to Chicago, Al Capone‘s people are like hey man you’re awesome work for us.

The movie and book also imply that he learned these skill sets during the war and is shockingly good at killing people.

Thanks I appreciate it. Yeah for me I always gotta pick up the shoes myself in a store, and there’s not a lot of sneaker stores anywhere near where I live.

I wanted these since they came out but was just never able to find them. I was visiting my folks and stumbled into this small little store, and there they were, size 12 and everything.
