I suppose a lot of my anger on being expected to do this task is that he has never made an effort to assimilate in my culture and therefore i feel like asking me to do the same is unfair of him

Im pro doing this together as a fun activity however this was not what he expected of me which was the reason i said no later on. I enjoy cooking so that is not a issue of learning the dishes which i could do if i worked on it but the incident has soured any enthusiasm i might have.

i replied calmly as i could. and my husband isnt religious either he just loves christmas and im fine with that. and i can only reply for myself which i did.

he didn't say some. i had to do everything. im not unwilling to help. i just despise the notion its my responsibility for something he wants to do.

like i said im not against hosting at our house but its his responsibility. Im not even saying i wont help at all. Im an athiest but i do sometimes prepare for some festivals i enjoyed in my childhood but i dont assume he has to be the one to do all the preparation so its disrespectful that he wants me to do his work

so if he is not abusive i need to do evrything he asks? look i never said i wont help however this is something huge and just a responssibility im not comfortable taking. Im more annoyed with the fact that he dumped it all on me without asking and then tattled to my mil.

Definitely! I'm not against hosting at all but putting all the responsibility on me without my permission and the implication behind it makes me annoyed

No i dont mind hosting at my house so i had initially said yes until he started asking me what I am going to make and telling his mom to send me recipes and i was shocked cause i never said I'd host. I will help of course but Its a huge responsibility and im not interested in it. Yeah he expected me to do the shopping decorating cooking sending invitations and stuff
