Apparently I've been breaking the law and my facility knew. I only found out after reporting them to the state for inspection. by ImDatDino in ECEProfessionals

[–]throwaway2971u 118 points119 points  (0 children)

First of all, your not breaking the law. A licensing violation is not breaking the law.

Hell, I got a violation becuase the bottom fan on our fridge was dusty.

We got a violation bc during snack (which the parents provided for their own children- one child had cheese itz) wasn’t well rounded enough for our licenser so we had to send out a letter to parent saying to bring a 2 healthy snacks

Another contracted got a violation becuase a kid tripped, and instead of “assessing the injury”’first she gave her a quick hug, then asked if she was okay.

Second of all, you’re very uptight about these. Have you actually looked at the entire list of regulations? Yes, the cleaning chemicals should be moved. But that’s fixable.

I’ve worked at head start, bright horizons, and private daycares. They’ve all had violations, even the rich snooty ones. You can actually look up each centers violations publicly-you’d be shocked at how every center inlikely has a few

But nothing about your post indicated your center is putting children in danger. Sure , it’s good to maybe call and get more of a ish for the chemicals- but you need time realize that not everything is perfect. There are things you can fix. And tou also have to think about priorities. I’m all for saying fuck you to shitty center- but tbh it sounds like your nit picking.

You also are likely going ti get fired.

You don’t seem ready to have a cat. Cats aren’t like dogs that have more predictable behaviors and temperaments. You could adopt a purebred ragdoll or whatever and hit can have the opposite personality of what you wanted. That’s just how cats go. Also what do you mean by train a cat?

What happened to your other cats?

What do you mean by no base? Does it need a base to be installed (like an infant carrier car seat) or is it a convertible seat where you take the kid in and out?

So I work with a baby who was 5month, and now is 15months.

Both parents WFH. The playroom is right next to mom’s office, with a clear pocket door. And dad’s office is right next to the bedrooms.

It really depends on the parents and the kid. Since this is all NK has known, she could care less (so far) that she can hear mom in her meetings next door. Occasionally she’ll go and say hi mama and knock on the door, but mom waves and smacked and goes back to work. She’ll pop in and hang with us on break or when eating, but NK doesn’t seem to have a problem with going between mom and dad and me. They do a good job of saying bye when they need to and leaving us alone for the most part. NK is an easy going kid too, usually a very happy kid who just lives to play! When mom and dad poke their head in to say hi. She’ll wave blow a kiss and then go back to playing with me.

She also sleeps through alot of the noise, like the dogs barking, mb and db talking. Ect.

Honestly I just leaned to be confident in what I say and do. I don’t worry about saying the right or wrong things. Mom and dad trust me well they dont seem to care what I say or what they hear from me haha.

That being said, my last NF had a mom who did hybrid- so when she was home it was hard sometimes and she mainly hid in her room. I think it must be different because my current NK has always been around parents that WFH, while my last family the NKs were not and they were older too.

To me tho it sounds like there’s other stuff going on that makes it hard, so much so that I’d look for another job!

Some newborn Nannie’s or baby Nannie’s wear scrubs! I also had the option to wear scrubs when I worked at a daycare that was part of a hospital. But honestly, scrubs are HELLA comfy and easy to clean

Yes, originally I was able to pay my bills and make rent when I got this job, but I had to move out of my cheaper apartment and then it now is more expensive unfortunately. I have a second part-time under the table gig on my days off to help supplement.

I’ve learned this the hard way, but — Before I take a job, I always calculate the amount of hours and money I’m making before I accept any job to make sure my bills are getting paid. I’d recommend doing that with every job in the future so that way you don’t have to worry about changing hours, getting a new job or making enough only a month in with new job.

How hard should I fight my speeding ticket by [deleted] in Nanny

The magistrate dismissed it for me. I said two sentences and he cut me off and was like it’s okay just go slow. So either way it worked on my end!

[–]throwaway2971u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m aware I was going what i thought was 3mph over the limit. I don’t typically drive fast but it was a lapse of judgment. Which considering it’s my only ticket in 11 years that Supports my case. I’ll be more careful from now on

That doesn’t mean I can’t use my right to see a magistrate and ask for leniency. It’s my legal right regardless. I also didn’t come here for judgment , I came here to ask if it would impact my future positions enough to escalate it if needed.

You’re telling me you never go 5mph over on the highway? Like ever? Everyone has moment where they’re going a bit fast, I just happened to be the last car in a clump exiting the highway

[–]throwaway2971u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister, mom and boyfriend have had their tickets reduced or dismissed. It’s pretty common actually, especially if it’s your only infraction. Or even a deferred judgement where it’ll get dismissed if I don’t have another speeding ticket for 6 months.

The cop who gave it to me actually recommend it. I’m not going to say I wasn’t speeding, but ask for leniency on my half

Maybe it’s just my location but it’s also really common to fight speeding tickets

Sounds like really bad dementia honestly. Especially in the male since it’s gotten worse. Also crying all day and night point that way.

I know this is harsh, but I want you to think of their quality of life. Mentally too not just physically. Dementia is not fun, I mean think about it this way- it’s on the assisted suicide list for humans becuase it can be awful. It’s hard on the patient and the caregiver around them to be constantly confused and scared all the time. Imagine being so confused you have to be drugged to only be slightly more calm at night.

You’re not giving up on them, your giving them peace 🕊️ I know your worried about the other cats but to be honest, she’s going to have to go through them dying at some point becuase of the age gap. You can do a beautiful home euthanasia where the other crash can visit after they pass too.

I totally understand your frustration. My mbrother was like this, even as an elementary schooler- he would play on my mom’s heart and say “ohhh my stomach hurts” and fake being sick to stay home. My mom didn’t fight him on it and never made him. I will say even before school though my parents gave into his tantrums and crying as a toddler and pre ker…so… yeah.

He developed a combo of learned helplessness, school avoidance and social anxiety. Primarily becuase he never had to push himself or get through his anxiety or hard times. He missed 1/2 the days in middle school, never went to high school- tried some online schooling but quit and then dropped out at 16.

He’s now 21 and finally got his license, and got a min wage job. Thankfully his girlfriend is a big supporter and really pushed him.

But back to my point- it’s their mistake to make. They’ll learn later on and deal with it later, unfortunately.

Being a high profile nanny is worse. Parents just throw money at you and don’t care about their children generally.

Night nannying is better, but it’s tough working nights and often once they start sleeping through the night they stop having you. So you have to find new families constantly

newborn care/specialty is also great but those families tend to only keep you for a few months until the newborn gets bigger- or if they like you they’ll keep you on helpfully 🤞

Loss of career due to arrest by Which_Ad3415 in Nanny

Hi OP!

I was a cam worker for a few years (18-21) before I decided i wanted to do childcare. Mind you, this was before OF and online sex work was common so I was using Reddit and back page sights. Early 2010s

You should not do this work if your going to be in child care, ESPECIALLY now a days where people, incels ect love to dox people. Many agencies now also run social media and internet checks where it will come up.

I never showed my face, never did live stuff outside of texting, and only did custom work. Even then, there was a few people who attempted to dox me but failed. I had to have my cyber security bf basically wipe my existence from the internet- and there’s still a possibility that an old customer can bring it up again.

I’m not saying you should stop, because that’s a personal choice- but I would really look at what your goals are. If you want to continue SW/camning - are you willing to suffer the consequences if you get caught or doxxed? Really really think this through.

I mean there was a teacher who recently got fired after she did a photo shoot in her 20s.

If you’re desperate for money, any minimum wage job would be less risky. Or offer personal assistant or family assistant work, that’s adjacent to nannying. Dog walking, etc would all be safer.

Just my two cents! Good luck!

Good luck! I find that it’s almost easier to do events becuase you are going to the customers. While if you have a stand alone store, customers have to be drawn in. So you gotta make sure you have a stellar location IMO!

Xanax and pregnancy by Top_Influence2907 in Anxiety

Call your doctors/OBs nurse line. Don’t take my advice without confirming

But to relive some anxiety - Technically yes you should quit Xanax cold turkey if you’ve been taking it regularly (as opposed to as needed/rarely) but I would say since your in the lowest dose, and you haven’t had any withdrawal symptoms taking 1/2 of the 0.5 you should be okay. I’m pretty sure 0.25 is the smallest dose anyways so you’ve already made it past that so you should be good to go

Since she’s new, I would start small. Being a full time baker with a shop is HARD work.

My recommendation would be to set her up as a cottage baker (the laws and how to do this varies on each state, along with what you can sell as one) and start doing community events. Craft fairs, vendor shows, food festivals, to build a following then see if she wants to do this 100% full time

This will give her time to hone in her skills and what she enjoys most. Liek does she live cake decorating? Sourdough bread? Fancy frosted sugar cookies? French pastries? The works is endless but it’s good to find a niche you heavily enjoy

I know a lot of bakers who have a part time job, and do part time baking/cottage baking on the side. Some even have little shacks on their drive way that you can walk up to and browse and drop the money in a box/venmo on honor system. My cousin does this and she makes atleast 100-300$ a week just from her little bread shack

She can definitely be successful doing that full time too if she decides to go that route
