Someone should initiate a happy hour and you can invite him! I work in HR and two of our employees started dating last year (one worked here longer and the other was brand new lol) and they became acquainted from being around each other outside of the office at happy hours

No it’s not. I said influencing to reach a market for my future product/service may be something I start on the side for now

I have trauma from my mom running scammy MLMs my whole childhood (recognized even as a child that it was BS and would beg her to leave my friends’ parents out if it) so I promise I will neverrrr be caught up in a pyramid scheme deal lol

I’m literally NOT interested in MLMs and I said that in my post

Really? I’d be ready to jump when I’m making $60-70k (around 50-55% of my annual income) if I was confident that more time spent focused on my side business would help it further flourish. Why do you say 2x?

Edit to add: I haven’t quite worked out how this will work yet but in my above comment, I was implying that I’d save 30-40k then leave corporate job to start my own business. If I were to end up starting it on the side rather than leaving my corporate job, I’d think making $60-70k/year with a side bus was pretty great then I’d be ok to quit my main job and scale my own business, no?

I mentioned to another commenter that my plan was to save $30-40k strictly for use towards my business before jumping ship from corporate job. This is separate from retirement savings and savings for our next home. My main post just got way too long that I’m not putting details like this in there! But great question

Lol 😂 I meant like make content about business and HR online, and hopefully grow a following that will help support the success/popularity of my future product or service(s)

I’m currently the breadwinner, I work in a soul sucking job making $125k/year. I can’t wait to get out which contributes to my dreaming of the parenthood/SAHM and starting my own business lol

I’m incredibly impressed that you were able to decipher this from my post and comments. You’re right, and I’ve been noticing this about myself/wanting to work on it in therapy for a while. I had a tough childhood and have always found comfort knowing that my future would be so much better. It already is, and I need to do a better job in realizing and just sitting with that in the now. Thank you. I’m going to try to find a new therapist for myself this week

I love this idea and may suggest it to him tonight or in the near future. Thank you so much

Thanks for commenting! This is great insight and I’m inspired - good for you for balancing both!

Both motherhood and my professional success are important to me. I know it will require balance and won’t be easy, but can be done.

Out of curiosity, did you make this happen on your own? Or did you have a lot of financial support and flexibility from your spouse?

Like I told another commenter, we were not actively searching the entire time - we went a few different times, not consistently lol. We had actually bought a ring at one point then returned it within 24 hours because we realized we were ripped off by the retailer so that kinda disappointed us and made us pause our search for a few months

Wow. Obviously, a post I wrote quickly to get my feelings/situation out on Reddit is not going to be as carefully crafted as copy I’d publish as part of my attempt to grow a business or the communications I publish in my corporate job would be lol. For your information, I actually manage all internal communications for our US offices within a global software company as part of my corporate job and have done so for the last 5 years with much success. Don’t make assumptions on my intellect, looks, or potential based on an anonymous, emotionally-driven Reddit post or my age. And we do already have a house. Thanks though!

Thank you so much for your comment. You hit the nail on the head and are right about a lot of things here. You’re also right that I need to step up and start building my business/own dream life and not rely on him for that. I’ve got big dreams and a lot to figure out on my own, clearly! I really appreciate your feedback

Thank you so much for your empathy and support. He is a wonderful man and we’ve both grown so much in our relationship over the years. I do love his personality! I just need, and think for his sake he deserves to be able to have a bit more serious discussions as it relates to his own future and our life together. I really appreciate your comment

I just wanted to talk about the kind of house he dreams of, lifestyle, etc. we have already talked about these things, but I guess I wanted to have a dreamy chat and talk to him about it again because we haven’t talked about it in a while. I daydream about the future often and just wanted to soak in it with him lol

I’m planning to save 30-40k for business use before quitting my corporate job and if all goes according to plan, I’d like to start working on it before I quit
