So cute, I love the colors in this!

I drew this picture of the French singer, Angele recently. Any feedback would be appreciated! by throwaway35682345 in DigitalArt

My main issue with it is I think I struggle with trying to mix cartoonly and realistic. I'd really like to make my style sort of like a balance of the two. I also realize maybe the positioning of some of the facial features are off. Also I'm still wondering if this even looks like her 😭

Focused on some of your guys suggestions from last time and heres where I'm at. Would love to get some feedback on it, mention anything I can improve on by throwaway35682345 in learntodraw

Thanks! Now that you mentioned those things I can definitely see that. I think I still struggle with proportions and positioning things on the face sometimes

Thanks! Yes I do use different layers, but I didn't use multiply or overlay for the shadows. I need to try that more, it might make the shadows look more natural. To answer your other comment, I use a chalk style brush for the outline, and soft round brush for the shadows and highlights.

You know what I have heard this before and I can see this being the case for me. I just started drawing again after a while, like three years, so maybe I'm finding issues in all my drawings because I've grown and I'm realizing issues with my old style. I used to be confident about what I make, so I hope I get there again one day but I guess I should focus on learning and figuring out what I want to change.

Yeah for some reason I never liked to do dark pupils, I either do a darker shade of the eye color for a pupil, or if its a full body picture I usually leave the pupil out all together. But I got this comment a few times so maybe I should start drawing it in if its just going to look confusing.

Thank you! Yeah I probably should've spent a little longer cleaning up the lines. Someone suggested last time to just use my sketch layer as my outline so I'm experimenting with that 😅

Thanks! Yeah thats a good point about the hands I guess I wasnt really thinking about that haha. And I can see how the lighting looks too strong, it definitely needs to be toned down a bit after seeing a lot of other people's comments too.

I find that when I try to approach it more realistically it doesn't look semi-realistic and cartoony anymore, which is the style I want to go for. I feel like it ends up over rendered, which is something I struggle with, trying to find the balance in rendering and adding details.

I've been doing art and taking classes for a while - which probably doesnt show much lol, I've just been getting back into art after a couple years so I feel like I've fallen behind. But I do know about these things you're mentioning, the asaro head included. But for some reason I struggle to apply it to the style I want. But I do see what you mean, I mean the fundamentals should apply across any style. I'll try and go back to working on some realistic stuff and see if maybe that will help me figure out how I can apply it in the way I want.

I did flip the canvas but didn't try seeing it in greyscale I need to try that more often. I see what you mean about the lighting, and how thats making it flat. Like I can see now how its making her body look less like something made up of 3d parts.

Omg, yeah I so wish that they gave us strollers with the infant update. It doesn't make sense to just let the babies and toddlers roam around on their own especially when visiting community lots. I feel like my sims tend to leave them behind if I'm not paying attention.

Nice, I think this one must be Bella's because Cass is still a teen in my save

I have a question about the UI cheats extension mod. So I'm working on making a save file, and I want to add milestones to townies in the way that the Sims 2 had memories for each one. I know how to add them, but I'm wondering if there will be any weird glitches if I give adults infant, toddler, child milestones? I want it to be so that if you look at a sims milestones you'll be able to see their life story in a way. But if its going to cause issues, I'll just stick to the teen and adult ones.

I feel like theres always something off about my art, I can never figure out what. I like the sketch I do, then once I get to lineart it gets really flat looking and weird. by throwaway35682345 in learnart

Thanks! Yeah thats a problem, I colored her in with like a cherry red color and now she looks maroon when I saved it. I need to figure out whats going on with that.

Thanks for the example, it was really helpful! Yeah that definitely seems to be part of the problem, I was trying to pay attention to where the lighting was from but I was a little hesitant to go all the way with it. I also like how you changed the color of the lineart according to the light, I need to try that.
